Antes de experimentar mi primer desenga\u00f1o amoroso<\/a>Ten\u00eda una percepci\u00f3n completamente distinta del amor y de las relaciones rom\u00e1nticas. Algunos dir\u00edan que idealizaba ambas cosas, mientras que otros incluso me habr\u00edan llamado est\u00fapida o tonta.<\/p>\n

Pues bien, todo eso cambi\u00f3 con el tiempo. La realidad me golpe\u00f3 con fuerza en la cara y me ayud\u00f3 a ver algunas verdades reveladoras.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t misunderstand me; I still have an enormously strong faith in love. However, there are some things I\u2019ll never believe about it again.<\/p>\n

Siempre es suficiente<\/h2>\n

Bueno, la tonta de m\u00ed se imaginaba la vida real de una forma bastante parecida. Pensaba que lo \u00fanico que importaba era el amor que compart\u00eda con mi pareja.<\/b><\/p>\n

Mientras nos quisi\u00e9ramos, podr\u00edamos superar cualquier obst\u00e1culo. Deb\u00edamos tener una comprensi\u00f3n infinita y la capacidad de perdonar, pasara lo que pasara.<\/b><\/p>\n

Until life showed me otherwise. Taught by experience, now, I see things differently. Now I know that real love isn\u2019t as powerful as I considered it to be.<\/p>\n

Ahora s\u00e9 que hay cosas como el respeto, el esfuerzo, el compromiso y la compatibilidad que tienen que ir de la mano de las emociones.<\/p>\n

Cambia a las personas<\/h2>\n

The next misconception I no longer believe in is that love changes people. Guess what? It doesn\u2019t, it never did and it never will.<\/p>\n

I thought to myself that if he loved me that much, it would be no trouble for him to get rid of some of his negative personality traits. He\u2019d work on his flaws once he saw that his behavior was harming me.<\/p>\n

I hate to be the one to burst your bubble but trust me, it\u2019s way better to learn from my mistakes.<\/p>\n

If you keep on waiting for a guy to miraculously turn into the man you need him to be, you\u2019ll just waste years of your life.<\/b><\/p>\n

The worst part is that you\u2019ll never get the desired final result. Remember one thing: your love and effort can\u2019t change a man<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t get me wrong; I\u2019m not saying that you have to accept everyone\u2019s personality just because it\u2019s who they are. It\u2019s perfectly acceptable to have standards.<\/p>\n

However, if a man doesn\u2019t fulfill your deal-breakers, don\u2019t fall for his potential.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t think about the person he can become. Instead, just leave before it\u2019s not too late to do so without any emotional consequences for either of you.<\/p>\n

Trust me, it\u2019s the only thing you should do.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s blind<\/h2>\n

Well, this is false. Yes, this might be true at the beginning of your romance but at this stage, you can\u2019t call this sensation love; instead, it\u2019s more of an infatuation and affection.<\/p>\n

Later on, whether you like it or not, you\u2019ll start noticing your partner\u2019s imperfections. Of course, this doesn\u2019t mean that you\u2019ve stopped loving him; it just means that you\u2019re not blind.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

If it\u2019s real, it will last forever<\/h2>\n

Years or even decades may pass but at the end of the day, they\u2019ll wake up next to each other, even if it\u2019s in a retirement home.<\/p>\n

Al menos, yo cre\u00eda que nunca se deja de querer a alguien por quien se han tenido fuertes sentimientos. Si tus sentimientos por esa persona se desvanecen, es se\u00f1al de que nunca la has amado de verdad.<\/p>\n

How romantic of me to think that way. It\u2019s even cheesy and pathetic. Yes, it would be nice if the first part of the story was true. However, life showed me that things don\u2019t actually work that way.<\/p>\n

First of all, many true loves don\u2019t have a happily ever after. <\/b>Nevertheless, that doesn\u2019t make them any less real.<\/p>\n

Por otro lado, sin duda puede <\/b>dejar de amar<\/b><\/a> alguien a quien una vez amaste.<\/b> Nevertheless, that doesn\u2019t mean that your love for them was something weak or insignificant.<\/p>\n

Call me a cynic but I prefer the word realist. Trust me; these are all harsh truths not many have the courage to accept. However, it\u2019s better to face them in time, before you run into any disappointments.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
