Me di cuenta de que mi problema y el de la mayor\u00eda de las mujeres es no tener normas a la hora de salir con alguien.<\/p>\n

And the reason we don’t have standards, and this is hard to admit, but we are not quite sure what we want exactly.<\/p>\n

And because we haven’t had that talk with ourself and determined standards of our own, we can’t expect a man to know them either. We are unsure where our borders lie, what we consider saludable<\/a> y comportamiento normal.<\/p>\n

No tenemos claro qu\u00e9 tipo de comportamiento es tolerable y cu\u00e1l es totalmente inexcusable.<\/p>\n

We become too accommodating, too tolerant, and too understanding\u2014which eventually comes back to bite us.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t get me wrong, I am not talking about some unrealistic or high standards, like he has to have a house with a pool and Porsches in front of it.<\/p>\n

They are not standards, that’s a gold-digger alert. I am talking about normal behavior that we often give to our loved one but forget to ask for ourself.<\/p>\n

Entregamos nuestro coraz\u00f3n, cuerpo y mente a una relaci\u00f3n sin esperar nada a cambio y, como resultado, solemos acabar con alguien t\u00f3xico.<\/em><\/p>\n

Para evitar este tipo de comportamiento, tenemos que fijar nuestras normas alto y claro, primero a nosotros mismos y luego a nuestra pareja potencial o actual:<\/p>\n

1. Espera el mismo respeto que t\u00fa<\/h2>\n

\nDon’t lower your standards by allowing someone to influence your self-esteem.<\/p>\n

Un hombre que no te respeta, el que te deja esperando para siempre, el que miente, enga\u00f1a, te insulta, manipula y juegos<\/a> shouldn’t have any room in your life.<\/p>\n

If you are treating somebody with the utmost respect, you should expect the same in return\u2014or show them the door.<\/p>\n

2. Esperar no ser tratado como una opci\u00f3n<\/h2>\n

Don’t settle for being one of the girls sitting on the bench who jumps up and drops everything every time he has the decency to call you.<\/p>\n

Don’t make him think that he is the center of your universe even if he wants to be in your life only when it’s convenient for him.<\/p>\n

Ten una norma que diga que los hombres a medias, las promesas a medias y los sentimientos a medias no son bienvenidos en tu vida.<\/p>\n

3. Esperar atenci\u00f3n, afecto y tiempo<\/h2>\n

Te dedicar\u00e1 tiempo por muy ocupado que est\u00e9. Se acordar\u00e1 de enviarte mensajes de texto. Te llamar\u00e1 y har\u00e1 planes para que salg\u00e1is.<\/p>\n

If he cares, he will make it work. Don’t lower your standards by begging for somebody’s attention, affection and time; if they are not given freely, they are worthless.<\/p>\n

4. Esperar una conversaci\u00f3n sincera<\/h2>\n

Tu compa\u00f1ero de vida debe ser alguien en quien puedas confiar plenamente. Alguien que mantenga sus palabras.<\/p>\n

Deber\u00edas poder tratarle como a tu mejor amigo, alguien con quien puedes ir a todo y no temer que utilice tus palabras o emociones en tu contra.<\/p>\n

Debe ser alguien con quien compartas todas tus alegr\u00edas y penas.<\/p>\n

A relationship won’t work if you are the only one who is being honest.<\/p>\n

5. Espera que te acepten por lo que eres<\/h2>\n

Porque haces lo mismo por la otra parte. Est\u00e1s aceptando sus perfecciones y sus defectos como parte de ellos.<\/p>\n

Don’t waste your time on somebody who is trying to change you or make you into something you are not. You are perfect in your imperfections.<\/p>\n

Eres \u00fanica, digna y \u00fanica en tu especie. Y para el hombre adecuado, ser\u00e1s m\u00e1s que suficiente<\/a>.<\/p>\n

6. Espera a alguien que se quede en las buenas y en las malas<\/h2>\n

Don’t stay with the one who runs for the hills every time darkness veils over your life.<\/p>\n

Don’t waste your smile on somebody who isn’t there to wipe away your tears.<\/p>\n

T\u00fa siempre est\u00e1s ah\u00ed para \u00e9l, sin importar las circunstancias, as\u00ed que espera que \u00e9l te d\u00e9 lo mismo.<\/p>\n

7. Esperar un esfuerzo mutuo<\/h2>\n

You can’t be the one doing all the hard work all the time. You can\u2019t put all your strength and energy into making somebody happy if they are not doing the same.<\/p>\n

Las relaciones se construyen entre dos y exigen el mismo esfuerzo por ambas partes.<\/p>\n

8. Esperar amor<\/h2>\n

Parece redundante decirlo, pero hay momentos en los que estamos tan profundamente enamorados de alguien que nuestro coraz\u00f3n deja de escuchar a nuestra mente.<\/p>\n

Pensamos que nuestro amor ser\u00e1 suficiente, que tenemos tanto amor dentro de nosotros que ser\u00e1 suficiente para dos.<\/p>\n

But it never is. Love should always be reciprocated and if it’s not, then it’s not true.<\/p>\n
