When I get my heart broken, the pain usually blinds me to the point where I don\u2019t manage to learn anything from it. Besides, I often lose the ability to see things realistically.<\/p>\r\n

Cuando atravieso una ruptura devastadora, mi \u00fanico objetivo es superar la situaci\u00f3n lo antes posible.<\/p>\r\n

However, when the people around me go through the same shit, I\u2019m different.<\/p>\r\n

Besides being there to comfort them, somehow, I also find a way to observe the situation and \u2013 most importantly \u2013 learn from their mistakes.<\/p>\r\n

1. Sometimes love isn\u2019t enough<\/h2>\r\n

When I was younger, I was a hopeless romantic who thought that love conquers everything. However, even though I still consider it to be a powerful force, I now know that sadly, it\u2019s not almighty.<\/p>\r\n

Con el tiempo, fui testigo de c\u00f3mo muchas de mis amigas se alejaban de chicos a los que a\u00fan quer\u00edan profundamente.<\/p>\r\n

Vi c\u00f3mo se ve\u00edan obligados a romperse el coraz\u00f3n haciendo lo correcto y dejando atr\u00e1s una relaci\u00f3n que, obviamente, no ten\u00eda futuro.<\/p>\r\n

So I guess that as we grow older, we learn that there are times when love isn\u2019t enough.<\/p>\r\n

Times when two people can\u2019t make their relationship work, despite all the feelings they have for each other.<\/p>\r\n

You see, the tough truth is that love alone can never preserve a relationship that has no mutual respect; it can\u2019t save a couple that has too many differences.<\/p>\r\n

Una relaci\u00f3n sana necesita mucho m\u00e1s que el amor mutuo. Necesita compromiso, compasi\u00f3n, aprecio y objetivos mutuos. De lo contrario, nunca funcionar\u00e1.<\/p>\r\n

2. People don\u2019t change<\/h2>\r\n

Another important thing other people\u2019s breakups taught me is that love can\u2019t change someone<\/span><\/a> hasta que decidan cambiar.<\/p>\r\n

Tienes la opci\u00f3n de aceptar a tu pareja por lo que realmente es desde el principio o alejarte a tiempo.<\/p>\r\n

Let\u2019s face it. No matter how crazy you are for someone, there are always parts of him you hope to modify sometime in the future.<\/p>\r\n

Pues bien, es hora de olvidarse de esos planes, porque conseguirlo es misi\u00f3n imposible.<\/p>\r\n

Over the years, I saw my friends getting involved with addicts, immature boys, serial cheaters, players\u2026 And each one of them thought they could change their guy.<\/p>\r\n

They were convinced that they were the ones who would bring light to these men\u2019s worlds, the ones who would show them the way, who would inspire them to be better and to leave their pasts behind.<\/p>\r\n

\u00bfAdivina qu\u00e9? Ninguno de mis amigos lo consigui\u00f3.<\/p>\r\n

Cada una de ellas acab\u00f3 decepcionada, habiendo malgastado a\u00f1os de su vida esperando un cambio que nunca lleg\u00f3; sus novios siguieron siendo los mismos hombres que eran antes de conocerlos.<\/p>\r\n

Don\u2019t get me wrong, this doesn\u2019t mean that people don\u2019t have the ability to change some parts of their personality.<\/p>\r\n

However, it is one thing when a person decides to make these changes because they realize it is the right thing to do and something they want. It is completely different if they\u2019re doing it to please someone else.<\/p>\r\n

3. Un coraz\u00f3n roto siempre se cura<\/h2>\r\n

Whenever one of my friends came to me after a painful breakup, she was convinced that she\u2019d remain this hurt forever. That her heart would forever be shattered in pieces and that she\u2019d never recover.<\/p>\r\n

Recon\u00f3celo: a la mayor\u00eda nos pasa lo mismo. Cuando terminamos las cosas con los chicos que amamos, lo vemos como el fin del mundo.<\/p>\r\n

Yo no fui diferente. Cuando viv\u00ed mi primera ruptura, pens\u00e9 que me pasar\u00eda el resto de mi vida llorando, echando de menos a ese hombre y anhelando su presencia.<\/p>\r\n

Sin embargo, entonces me acord\u00e9 de todas las personas a mi alrededor que pasaron por la misma mierda antes que yo.<\/p>\r\n

I remembered my friends\u2019 sleepless nights, their tears, and the way they saw their heartbreaks as the worst thing that could possibly happen.<\/p>\r\n

Record\u00e9 que cada uno de ellos se recuper\u00f3 con \u00e9xito. Que cada uno de ellos cur\u00f3 sus heridas y sigui\u00f3 adelante con su vida.<\/p>\r\n

As\u00ed que pens\u00e9 que un un coraz\u00f3n roto siempre se cura<\/span><\/a>Pase lo que pase. Los suyos lo hicieron, los m\u00edos tambi\u00e9n, y los tuyos tambi\u00e9n lo har\u00e1n. Puedo promet\u00e9rtelo.<\/p>\r\n
