Anoche le estaba mandando un mensaje a mi amiga que se cas\u00f3 el a\u00f1o pasado. Ella es mi amiga de la universidad y tuvimos un tiempo loco en ese entonces, pero de alguna manera, ella cambi\u00f3. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I remember we used to make fun of those women who got married and completely forgot who they were, all of a sudden turning into these Stepford wives. It seems now that she\u2019s become one of them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Me estaba quejando de algo, se\u00f1alando lo injusto que era y lo cabreada que me ten\u00eda. Ella me mand\u00f3 un mensaje: that’s all rubbish, the best thing for you is to find yourself a boyfriend!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Really? That is your answer, to find myself a boyfriend? All of a sudden you know better because you\u2019re married, and all of my work and accomplishments are rubbish because I don\u2019t have a man?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

People, relatives, friends in a relationship \u2013 stop telling me I need to find a boyfriend! <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maybe I don\u2019t want anyone. Maybe I am so involved in my career, charity work, and paying off a student loan that I don\u2019t have time or energy for anyone. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why do you think that all my activities and the extra effort I put in at work is because I don\u2019t know what else to do with my life due to the fact that I am single and therefore \u201chave no purpose\u201d? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to my friend who used to be a cool person and would also get pissed at some unjust issues like me, I am faking and distracting myself from the real issue that\u2019s bugging me, and that is my single status. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

And don\u2019t get me started on family meetings and family in general. I spent my entire high school listening to them nagging how I need to get into a good college. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Luego me pas\u00e9 toda la universidad centrada en graduarme a tiempo, y en no quedarme embarazada ni abandonar los estudios para poder conseguir un trabajo decente. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despu\u00e9s de ponerme por fin en pie, empezaron a darme la lata con que soy soltera y todo lo que hice es irrelevante ahora. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00bfCu\u00e1ndo vais a aceptar por fin mis elecciones y dejarme vivir? Porque chicos, estoy bien con mi vida. Soy feliz, lo he conseguido todo por m\u00ed misma y por fin soy libre e independiente.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I spend my money on travelling, handbags. I am also involved in volunteering I can cook whatever I want and I don\u2019t need to prepare dinner for anyone. I can go out at midnight and get myself a McDonalds burger if that\u2019s what I want. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I really, truly am satisfied. And if I am okay with your lives and happy for your marriage and kids or relationships, why can\u2019t you be happy for me? <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Si fuera infeliz y dijera claramente que anhelo una relaci\u00f3n, me habr\u00eda buscado a alguien, a cualquiera. As\u00ed que, por favor, resp\u00e9tame a m\u00ed, mis decisiones y mis creencias, y deja de pensar y decir que necesito encontrar novio. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Y a mi amiga, si est\u00e1 leyendo esto, si yo tuviera novio y las mismas creencias que tengo ahora, \u00bflas respetar\u00edas? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to you, would I then be a complete person, or would you still think they are rubbish? Because if you can validate my opinion only if I have a man, we really can\u2019t be friends anymore. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
