I think we all know what they are, but let\u2019s put them all in one place to have those “words of wisdom” permanently written somewhere. <\/span><\/p>\n

1. \u201cAh, I know. Living a single life can be such a struggle.\u201d<\/h2>\n

\u00a1\u00bfQu\u00e9?! Cuando la gente elige la l\u00e1stima como emoci\u00f3n para acercarse a alguien soltero que conoce, se me revuelve la boca del est\u00f3mago. <\/span><\/p>\n

Single people aren\u2019t sick, there\u2019s nothing wrong with them, so why do people treat them completely opposite to the way they should. <\/span><\/p>\n

Hasn\u2019t it ever occurred to anyone that maybe some single people choose to be single? <\/span><\/p>\n

Maybe some people aren\u2019t ready to be in a relationship because the last one was a disaster? Perhaps they need some time to heal. <\/span><\/p>\n

But someone “smart” knows nothing about that, yet they meddle where they aren\u2019t supposed to. <\/span><\/p>\n

2. \u201cDon\u2019t worry, you\u2019ll find someone.\u201d<\/h2>\n

Who says they\u2019re worrying? Maybe they weren\u2019t even thinking about it until someone who felt entitled to point that out came into the picture. <\/span><\/p>\n

On the other hand, how does anyone even know if the single person they\u2019re talking to will find someone?<\/span>
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

What are we, living among fortune-tellers? Do they know to predict the future? Do they actually know what\u2019s going to happen? <\/span><\/p>\n

No\u2026 The only thing you\u2019re getting is another form of pity consolation.<\/span><\/p>\n

3. \u201cAre you still single?\u201d<\/b><\/h2>\n

First of all, why would anyone be interested in this information unless they\u2019re into you? If they aren\u2019t, they\u2019re just nosy. <\/span><\/p>\n

Second of all, okay, it\u2019s not the question itself that bothers me, it\u2019s the “still”\u2019 part.  <\/span><\/p>\n

People don\u2019t realize how judgy they sound when they use the word still in this construction. <\/span><\/p>\n

They don\u2019t get that talking to someone in this way is pretty offensive. It\u2019s either that, which is forgivable, or it\u2019s something else. Like for example, they\u2019re talking to you in this way on purpose. <\/span><\/p>\n

4. \u201cHave you ever tried dating apps?\u201d<\/h2>\n

Dating apps aren\u2019t for everyone. What if someone is an introvert? <\/span><\/p>\n

Naturally, it\u2019s so much easier for those people to communicate with another human being without any social pressure, therefore it\u2019s understandable that online communication is the way to go. <\/span><\/p>\n

Pero, \u00bfqu\u00e9 ocurre cuando ese mismo introvertido empieza a comunicarse con un extrovertido a trav\u00e9s de una aplicaci\u00f3n de citas?<\/span><\/p>\n

Mientras la comunicaci\u00f3n sea virtual, todo va bien. En el momento en que la comunicaci\u00f3n se hace real, cara a cara, tienes un problema. <\/span>

I speak from experience when I say that the last thing you need in your life is another strange encounter with someone you\u2019ve been set up to go out with, but I\u2019m pretty sure you know the feeling too. <\/span><\/p>\n

6. \u201cI\u2019m so jealous that you\u2019re single.\u201d<\/h2>\n

Hm\u2026. No, they\u2019re not. If they were jealous, the problem would be so easy to fix. They\u2019d break up then they\u2019d be single too.<\/span><\/p>\n

La gente que dice esto s\u00f3lo lo dice para tener algo que decir.<\/span><\/p>\n

Some are even trying to make you feel better, but actually, they aren\u2019t doing that great of a job.<\/span> They\u2019re only making it worse.<\/span><\/p>\n

7. \u201cOh, you\u2019re single, I\u2019m so sorry!\u201d<\/h2>\n

I mean, c\u2019mon! Can anyone be more snobbish and rude than that! Why would you or I need anyone to be sorry for us? <\/span><\/p>\n

Are we sick? Are we deformed in some way? Oh, right, we\u2019re single, that\u2019s why we need empathy. Well, that\u2019s just ridiculous. <\/span>
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

8. \u201cYou need to put yourself out there.\u201d<\/h2>\n

Forcing a single person to go out more is like forcing an introvert to talk to people more. It doesn\u2019t make any sense. <\/span><\/p>\n

We\u2019ll do it on our terms and when we want to. No one has the right to force us to do anything, especially someone who\u2019s in a relationship and feels entitled to “help” a friend. <\/span><\/p>\n

The best help anyone can offer you is to be your support \u2013 to be something totally unlike forceful. <\/span><\/p>\n

9. \u201cUse this time to improve yourself.\u201d<\/h2>\n

Does that mean when you\u2019re in a relationship, you don\u2019t have the time to work on yourself and make yourself better? <\/span><\/p>\n

Well, that\u2019s just funny and sad at the same time. I mean, it\u2019s sad to even think that there are people who actually believe this statement is true. <\/span>
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>We always work on ourselves, no matter if we\u2019re single or not, so one of the things a single person simply detests hearing is this. <\/span><\/p>\n

10. \u201cYour standards are too high!\u201d<\/h2>\n

Well, they might as well spat me in the face. What\u2019s this? Another way of saying, \u201cYou\u2019re ugly and you\u2019re fat. <\/span><\/p>\n

Get real and work within your league!\u201d I get that not everyone is for everyone, but if a person has standards they want to fulfill, how can anyone argue with that?<\/span><\/p>\n

No one has that right. Maybe I\u2019m single because I don\u2019t want to lower my standards, because I know what I deserve. <\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019m not willing to risk my happiness by dropping my standards. <\/span><\/p>\n

11. \u201cYou\u2019ll find someone when you least expect it!\u201d<\/h2>\n

I can\u2019t stress this enough! Once again, everyone has a different experience. We can talk from our personal experience, but that doesn\u2019t have to be a universal truth. <\/span><\/p>\n

Usually, people talk about something that happened to them like it\u2019s the absolute truth and it can\u2019t be anything different. <\/span><\/p>\n

Well, no one can tell me or you that love awaits around the corner and it\u2019ll come when you least expect it. No one knows \u2013 that\u2019s the beauty of it!<\/span><\/p>\n
