9 Signs You Have A Shitty Friend

9 Signs You Have A Shitty Friend

How many times have you been feeling great and then your friend does something to rain on your parade?

How many times has it been when you needed someone and your friend wasn’t there for you?

How many times have you felt alone in the presence of your ‘friend’?

If the answer to all of these questions is too many then I’m afraid you’ve got yourself a shitty friend who serves you no good.

They’re self-absorbed

It’s like every topic you talk about seems to always end up back on them.

No matter what might be going on in your life or how much attention the events in your life deserve, you get a spotlight for just a few minutes and then they need the attention back.

They talk behind their other friends’ backs

Complaining is one thing but starting unnecessary dramas is another.

Sharing is something mandatory in friendships but think about it, if they talk behind their other friends’ backs to you, what’s there to stop them from doing the same thing to you, too?

Nothing is ever their fault

I just don’t understand why it’s so hard to own up to a simple mistake.

At some point we’re all gonna grow up and start working on solutions instead of focusing on finding excuses but what do we do until then?

They act differently with other people

It might just be me but I don’t think bullying and friendship are words that should be used in the same sentence.

The way they treat you should never depend on who are you surrounded by.

Treating you well when it’s just you and them and then constantly joking about your insecurities and whatnot when there are other people around you is just not right.

They make you feel anxious

Okay, there is nothing wrong with a little bit of teasing and fooling around but when they make you feel anxious or nervous when you’re around them, then it’s a clear red flag that they’re emotional vampires and shitty friends.

You feel left out

People normally feel like they matter when they are around their friends but not you.

When you’re around them you just feel left out. In most cases you’re a last-minute call or you’re there in case they’re bored.

Everything they do is a competition

You know that thought, “I’m just telling you something funny about my day, why are you trying to one-up me?”—whatever you did, they’ve already done it twice.

Whatever you do, they can do it better. Somehow they make you feel like they’re the one who’ll get on better in life and after a while it stops resembling a friendship and it starts looking like a goddamn competition.

They get mad at you when you do something without them

When they leave you behind that’s okay but once you do something fun without them, jealousy instantly kicks in and they make you feel bad for having a life and activities that don’t include them.

They don’t make you feel better when you’re down but expect differently from you

When you’re down all they say is I don’t know, man; It’s gonna be okay; Don’t stress about it; or they don’t even have the decency to respond and they immediately start talking about their problems.

This would be okay if they didn’t expect you to listen to them for hours and solve all of their problems.

It’s no longer hard to tell if you have a shitty friend. Sooner or later you’re gonna have to learn the art of letting go and you’ll come to realize that life is better without this kind of person.

There will be friends who’ll stuck by your side no matter what and who deserve the world. These are not the one so let them go. Trust me when I tell you, they need you, you don’t need them.

Before you diagnose yourself with depression or low self-esteem, first make sure that you are not, in fact, just surrounding yourself with assholes.
