1. Everything in life is temporary.
Bad days won’t last forever, even if it often seems that way. There is always some sunshine behind the clouds, just waiting to come out. Rough patches and things that break us are inevitable. Nothing lasts forever. Good days will pass as well as those bad ones.
So enjoy the good moments and be strong through the bad ones. Just because everything is going downhill right now that doesn’t mean that you can’t find some good in life too.
However small that good may seem, if it puts a smile on your face, enjoy it. Make the best of every moment because life is magnificent in that way and every day is an opportunity to start over and to experience something new.
2. Sometimes life closes doors because it’s time to move forward.
Without the pain, we wouldn’t know what pleasure looked like. Tough times teach us life lessons that we wouldn’t know if everything was serene. So when one door closes another one opens, or at least a window opens that gives us numerous new possibilities.
Oftentimes, we hold on too tightly to people, places, moments, and jobs, not knowing that by holding on, we do more damage. Holding on keeps us in one place instead of allowing us to move forward.
3. Not everything is in our control.
Things happen, they end and begin without us having a say in it. We have no other choice but to embrace them as they come. Not everything is in our hands and the sooner we accept that, then things will get easier.
We have to accept that but always remember that there are still a lot of things that are in our hands that we can influence. Work on those things and let go of the ones out of your reach, because in controlling everything you enjoy nothing.
4. You can’t escape things that are meant for you.
They will always find you. Worrying, overanalyzing and forcing things to happen will get you nowhere except the end of your sanity. When you relax and let go, everything that’s meant to be will be able to find you.
Maybe life has some greater plans in store for you than you could ever think possible. So, take risks, trust your intuition, try new things, dream and discover and everything will fall into place. There is one catch there though: it will happen when it’s supposed to and not when you want it to.
5. Other people’s negativity and toxicity is not your problem.
It’s theirs. They are the ones who have to live with themselves—you are free to leave at any moment. You won’t change them by loving them and by staying you will only make your life unnecessarily bitter. Their attitudes and behaviors don’t define you. If they are trying to convince you that you are not good enough, it says more about them than it does about you.
If you want a change in your life, it has to be on your own terms and because you are ready to grow as a person. If somebody is putting you down, you are better off without them anyway. So kick all those negative and toxic people out of your life and see how your life starts blooming.
6. Scars are there to show you that you are stronger than everything that tried to hurt you.
You’ve been broken and you healed—scars are just a reminder of that. We all have them, and they remind us that we are stronger than we think. They show us that we are not quitters but are smarter, stronger and wiser people because of those experiences.
Any type of scars, the physical or emotional ones that get imprinted in our souls, show that we are survivors. That’s something to be proud of.
7. Always remember to put one foot in front of the other and just keep walking.
Keep going forward. Keep moving. Every setback and all the pain, they are there to test your strength. The important thing is to rise no matter how many times you fall, to persist when everything doesn’t go as you planned. To keep working even harder on yourself, your life and your goals when life slaps you in the face.
It might seem that you are stuck in this place of sorrow for eternity. But things are never as bad as we think. Never quit because sometimes things have to get really messy and ugly before they get good again.
Believe in yourself. Don’t let fear get in your way. Don’t be scared to try again, to live again, to love again, and to dream again. This time, maybe even dream bigger dreams. Don’t let a harsh life freeze your heart or your soul.
