Don’t allow the baggage of 2018 to bring you down. I know it wasn’t nice. I know it wasn’t easy. I know there were days, weeks and months in the past year when you barely made it through. But don’t allow all of it to have a hold over you. Don’t bring the negativity into this new year.
Stop thinking you are powerless, you are not; your life is in your own hands so don’t allow anyone to tell you otherwise.
Don’t settle for your life, choose it, build it and make it into whatever you want.
Follow your heart but never allow it to cloud your judgment. Try to recognize the things that aren’t meant for you and never hold on to them.
Don’t allow the darkness from preventing you from seeing the rays of the sun coming into your life. Don’t let the pessimism consume you and turn all your blessings into curses.
Enjoy the good moments that life brings you without thinking about all the awful ones that happened in the past.
Fall in love with yourself every time you wake up and look in the mirror. You are beautiful. You are strong. You are the one who managed to pick herself up and start again. You are your own hero. Be proud of that.
Stop diminishing your worth. Silence all the voices inside that are telling you that you are not enough. Shut all those insecurities that are suffocating you. Trust me, you are more than enough.
You were broken and bent more times than you can count but be bold enough to love again, to love louder and with more fire. Do that in spite of all those who want to see you fail. Do that in spite of your own fears.
I know it’s scary as hell but love is the only thing that’s worth the risk… that’s worth everything. Never allow your past to hold you hostage and prevent you from living your life to the fullest.
You still might kiss a few frogs before you find Mr. Right, that’s true. But you know what? It’s still worth it. You will survive. You always have and you always will.
Don’t be afraid to start over as many times as it takes.
Use this first chapter of the new year the best you can but don’t get too disappointed if you don’t fulfill your goals right away. Every new day is a great opportunity for a fresh start and the good news is you have plenty of them.
Be gentle with yourself. Don’t be too strict or too hard. You are allowed to mess up. You are allowed to make mistakes. That’s how you learn. That’s how you grow.
Remember to spoil yourself rotten from time to time. You’ve been delaying that for too long. You owe it to yourself to become your own priority in this year and every one that comes after it.
Leah Lee – Writer. Dreamer. Adventurer. Eternal Optimist.
I am an English language and literature professor and writing came naturally alongside that. It was something I did for me until I decided to share it with the rest of the world.
I write about love, emotions, relationship issues and ways to solve them and most importantly about empowering women to become the best versions of themselves.
My inspiration comes from all that I’ve been through in life, and it was a bumpy road but full of valuable lessons. I hope that my experience will do some good to all of those who like to read my work.
