I would like to start this with a very special quote, which made me realize how short our lives are and that no time should be spent dwelling on something. The quote is by Eckhart Tolle and he says, “You get there by realizing you’re already there.”
We spend so much time not knowing what to do next, just because we think that we need to go through hundreds of steps to get to a mindset that we want, to get a certain body shape that we want, just so we can call ourselves ‘important’ or ‘hot’.
The things we need to do to change our own lives are so simple, so here you have them:
1. Realise that you are precious, no matter what.
Your size, your education and the number of books you have read don’t mean that you are more or less precious. You are precious because this world would not be the same without you. I can promise you that! Don’t forget this. It’s really important to know your value.
2. Stop letting people who do so little for you control your emotions.
I’ve struggled with this one a lot, but I have realized that, at the end of the day, what someone else thinks of you doesn’t matter. What they think of you is their perception of you, not who you really are. And if that negative mindset comes from someone who’s not even there for you in your bad moments, they don’t even deserve to be a part of your thoughts.
3. Compliment yourself!
I know that it must be hard for you to ignore your ‘bad’ decisions or habits that you are not so happy about, but you must also see the good in yourself. Look in the mirror and say it out loud. “I think I’m pretty”“ or, “I didn’t smoke one cigarette today” and give yourself credit! You really do deserve it.
4. Don’t settle just because someone told you that it’s the right time.
Is there really the ‘right time’ to be married? I wouldn’t say so. You will know when you are ready to commit to someone and should wait until you feel safe and loved. Wait until you love someone so much that nothing can ever separate you.
5. Be kind.
We overlook this one the most but I really do not know why. If you’re kind, there is nothing that can bring you down just because you know that you didn’t do anything to hurt someone else. Kindness is power!
6. Do it.
You know that time you didn’t want to do a massive project just because someone (yourself?) told you that you’re not good enough for that? That you need more knowledge, more experience, more time? Well, f&%k all that!
How can you gain knowledge and experience if you don’t do this project right now? Why don’t you kiss that special someone? Ohh, you think that you’re too ugly? Well, let me tell you that you are beautiful and worthy of love.
SO GO AND DO IT! Do anything that you want to do, because you can.
