I never thought this moment would come after everything you did to me but here I am, writing you a thank you note. Yes, you\u2019ve read that right\u2014this is me being grateful for you being the shitty boyfriend you were.<\/p>\n

Because if it hadn\u2019t been for you, I would have never become the person I am today.<\/p>\n

If you hadn\u2019t disrespected me, I would have never learned to respect myself. If you hadn\u2019t loved me so poorly, I would have never learned the importance of self-love. Here is what you taught me.<\/p>\n

That sometimes love isn\u2019t enough<\/h2>\n

Before I met you, I was convinced that love was this omnipotent force which couldn\u2019t be defeated but could defeat everything.<\/p>\n

Another thing I want to thank you for is teaching me that people don\u2019t change, no matter how much you try to make them different.<\/p>\n

Ensinou-me a deixar de justificar aqueles que me fazem mal, a deixar de mentir a mim pr\u00f3pria que as coisas acabariam por melhorar e a olhar sempre a verdade nos olhos, por mais dolorosa ou dura que seja.<\/p>\n

That nobody will magically become the person I need them to be and to accept that my love can\u2019t always make a man become the best possible version of himself, as much as I would like it to happen.<\/p>\n

Acima de tudo, ensinou-me que dar segundas oportunidades sem fim \u00e9 sempre em v\u00e3o. Que ao perdoar constantemente aquele que continua a magoar-me, estou apenas a dar-lhe luz verde para continuar a faz\u00ea-lo.<\/p>\n

Porque \u00e9 que tive de passar por aquele desgosto? Porque \u00e9 que tive de te perder, quando fiz tudo o que estava ao meu alcance para te manter?<\/p>\n

And then it hit me\u2014God always has perfect timing and Ele tem sempre um plano <\/a>. Apercebi-me de que tudo acontece por uma causa maior e por uma raz\u00e3o maior de que normalmente n\u00e3o temos consci\u00eancia.<\/p>\n

Once I thought of our relationship realistically and once I started seeing you for who you really were, I understood that you leaving me wasn\u2019t a curse\u2014it was actually my biggest blessing.<\/p>\n

What I don\u2019t want from a relationship<\/h2>\n

Let\u2019s face it\u2014you never treated me right. You were an asshole who took me for granted, an immature mama\u2019s boy who was never ready to grow up emotionally and a selfish jerk who never even thought of putting the effort into our relationship.<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, if you hadn\u2019t been like this, I would have never known how to recognize the signs of a toxic person the moment I laid my eyes on them.<\/p>\n

I wouldn\u2019t have known what type of man I should run away from and what type of man I don\u2019t want in my life.<\/p>\n

If none of these things went on the way they did, I would have never known what not to want from a relationship and what love isn\u2019t.<\/p>\n

If it wasn\u2019t for you, I would have never known what it is that I should never settle for.<\/p>\n

That I\u2019m stronger than I thought<\/h2>\n

Talvez a coisa mais importante que me ajudou a compreender foi o qu\u00e3o intimidante e forte eu sou.<\/p>\n

Como uma mulher feroz e independente <\/a> Eu sou e que n\u00e3o h\u00e1 nada nem ningu\u00e9m que me possa deitar abaixo.<\/p>\n
