I\u2019ve always been that person who\u2019s first to help. I was taught to be kind-hearted and it stayed with me.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s weird because I grew up thinking that saying something like that wasn\u2019t humble and I don\u2019t mean to boast, but I\u2019ve come to realize that I truly am a good person because I strive to be one.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, I soon realized something else \u2013 not many people appreciate selflessness; to be more precise, not many people appreciate selflessness when they don\u2019t need you anymore.<\/strong><\/p>\n

I\u2019ve always tried to understand everyone and think before I judge. The same goes when I\u2019m in a relationship.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s why I got stuck in a relationship with a man who used me.<\/p>\n

Era um homem muito encantador e eu admirava as suas palavras e a sua capacidade de me fazer rir a toda a hora. Amava-o como nunca tinha amado ningu\u00e9m.<\/p>\n

I didn\u2019t want to believe that the man I loved didn\u2019t care enough to notice I was exhausted.<\/p>\n

Estava farta de deixar as pessoas levarem a sua avante em vez de lutar pelo que merecia.<\/p>\n

I was tired of trying to meet everyone\u2019s expectations. I was that person who everyone saw as a saving grace – everyone but herself.<\/p>\n

While others would seek comfort in me, I couldn\u2019t find it anywhere. What\u2019s even worse, I let it all happen.<\/strong><\/p>\n

I insisted on telling everyone I was fine when in reality I was mentally exhausted from all the things I couldn\u2019t fight.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Detestava desiludir os outros e sempre tive dificuldade em dizer n\u00e3o. Toda esta press\u00e3o levou-me a uma espiral de ansiedade e culpa.<\/p>\n

Fiquei sobrecarregada e esgotada muito facilmente. Cansei-me de cuidar de toda a gente, enquanto n\u00e3o havia ningu\u00e9m para cuidar de mim.<\/p>\n

At one point I felt like I was cursed with feeling everything so deeply and my heart couldn\u2019t take it anymore.<\/strong><\/p>\n

I wanted to feel safe in someone\u2019s arms and hear that everything was going to be okay.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s when I decided to let go of the blockages that made me think I was being selfish for asking for <\/strong>amor e compreens\u00e3o.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Finally, I understood that I don\u2019t have to spend my life asking for love and being deprived of it. I want the love in my life to be reciprocal.<\/p>\n

I want it to be as love should be \u2013 unconditional and always present. I understood that I am worthy of everything I was giving to other people.<\/p>\n

Aprendi que tenho de estabelecer os meus limites<\/a> e certificar-se de que toda a gente os respeita. Estabelecer limites mudou a minha vida.<\/strong><\/p>\n

I let go of guilt I had over something that\u2019s not mine and which I can\u2019t control. I let myself finally understand and accept myself first.<\/p>\n

Learning to have compassion for myself made me realize that we can\u2019t be complete without loving ourselves first.<\/p>\n
