O que é exatamente o material da esposa? Quem é que escreve as regras? Quem define os padrões? Quem garante que o facto de se encaixar na caixa de material de esposa garantirá um casamento feliz?

I really started to worry when I read some articles about what makes good wife material. It’s like the 1950’s all over again.

Basicamente, estão a dizer que uma mulher deve ser obediente e servir o marido, que deve ter instintos maternais e ser dona de casa, etc., etc.

And all I can say is that is all BS. A woman doesn’t have to do anything or be anything unless she wants to. For the right men, that will constitute perfect wife material.

There are so many things people say a woman should and shouldn’t do, but there is only one that is true: all you should do is stay true to yourself, and be honest about it.

So what if you don’t want to give up your career, ambitions and dreams to fit the role of a wife? The two shouldn’t exclude one another.

Why wouldn’t you cook and prepare delicious meals if you enjoyed doing that? Why wouldn’t you be a stay-at-home mom if you wanted to?

Quando se trata de relações, os rótulos são uma coisa positiva. Mas quando se trata de rotular uma mulher, os rótulos são completamente desnecessários.

Podes fazer e ser tudo o que quiseres. Afinal, és uma mulher.

Don’t let anybody shape you to fit their box. Don’t let them tell you that a woman who is wife material laughs when she feels like crying.

Don’t let them tell you that a woman stays silent when she feels the need to speak. Problems should be faced and discussed, not mopped under the carpet.

Don’t let them tell you that a woman should sacrifice her own happiness for the man she loves. When love is true, there is no need for sacrifice and putting yourself last.

Don’t let them tell you that you should put up with somebody’s poor behavior, cheating or abuse because you are his wife on paper. If you were truly a wife in his heart, he would never treat you like that.

O homem com quem é suposto estar irá aceitá-la tal como é. Admirará as suas virtudes e abraçará os seus defeitos, tal como você os dele.

He won’t tentar mudar-te. He won’t push you to do anything you don’t want to do. He will never try to make you feel less. Instead, he will adore your uniqueness.

A verdade é para o homem certo, a sua alma gémeaSe o seu marido for o seu melhor amigo, o seu melhor amigo e o seu amante, será uma esposa sem tentar sê-lo. Serás a melhor esposa que existe porque ele vai amar-te tal como és.
