Uma carta de aniversário comovente para o meu marido fantástico

Querido marido,

Por onde hei-de começar? Lembro-me do dia em que te vi pela primeira vez como se fosse a semana passada. Eu era um caloiro que estava a aprender a andar pelo campus, sem fazer ideia do impacto que aquele ano teria para mim e para o meu futuro.

Estava apenas a começar a conhecer as pessoas que lá estavam e posso dizer com alegria que fiz alguns amigos para a vida.

A minha amiga Stella, de quem eu tinha literalmente feito amizade umas semanas antes (e que agora é a madrinha da nossa filha), achou que seria uma boa ideia eu conhecer a sua amiga, que ela achava que seria uma óptima escolha para mim.

I was just out of a relationship as I didn’t see much sense in staying with my high-school BF since I was moving to the other side of the country, so it was a rough few weeks for me, adjusting to a life without him, trying to keep my spirits up.

Stella kept bugging me about this friend of hers, and even though I wasn’t in a good place (at least when it came to dating, I didn’t think I was ready at ALL), I decided to go for drinks with her and a couple of other people—YOU included.

I had to make myself go, and I almost didn’t even show up.. but I thank the Lord I did.

The moment I arrived at the pub, I saw this amazing looking guy…with eyes bluer than the skies and a smile that seemed so genuine and real.

Comecei logo a pensar se seria você, por isso, quando finalmente me aproximei da mesa e me sentei, a Stella apresentou-nos e eu tinha razão, era você!

I couldn’t contain my excitement. I was attracted to you the moment I saw you across that pub, and getting to know you, I realized that there was a fantastic human on the inside as well.

Era como se não existisse mais ninguém à mesa. Tu e eu não parámos para o AIR. Era como se eu te conhecesse há anos e sentisse o mesmo de ti.

The ‘’date’’ went perfectly. Even though we weren’t alone, it really felt like we were! I don’t know if you knew it then, but I had no doubts about you from that day on.

Os nossos encontros continuaram e eu estava a apaixonar-me mais loucamente a cada dia que passava. Fizeste-me esquecer o meu desgosto.

Eras tão encantador, verdadeiro, divertido e encorajador. Nunca me pressionaste a fazer nada e compreendeste porque é que eu queria ir devagar contigo.

Meeting you that day was one of the best decisions of my life because had I not appeared for drinks that night, I wouldn’t be the luckiest wife and mother in the world at this very moment.

Fizeste com que os meus anos de faculdade passassem a voar como se fossem uma brisa, e tudo foi muito mais fácil sabendo que te tinha!

Com o passar dos anos, ficámos cada vez mais fortes e toda a gente sabia que éramos destinado a ser. Éramos como duas ervilhas numa vagem.

I have to tell you… you truly made me the happiest girl in the world just by being so patient, loving, kind, and considerate, and I couldn’t imagine being any happier… until the day you proposed.

It was the last year of college. We were living together, and we had so many plans for the future. We were both successfully nearing the very end of our college years, and knowing I didn’t have to say goodbye to you was the only thing that kept me in one piece.

So one day, I got home from drinks with Stella and a few of our close girlfriends, and I was feeling particularly down because it was only a matter of weeks before they all went back home, and I couldn’t stand the thought of not seeing them every single day.

Reparaste que eu estava um pouco aborrecido, por isso decidiste fazer-me ganhar o dia, e fizeste-o!

Esperou que eu saísse do duche, que me esvaziasse um pouco a cabeça e que me sentasse no sofá, de toalha, em frente à televisão.

You sat beside me and asked if there was anything you could do to make me feel better. I instantly replied ‘’No’’, but I was thankful you cared so much.

And then you asked me: ‘’Are you sure?’’, and you whipped out a little box that changed my life forever.

You opened it… and asked me: ‘’How about now?’’ with the biggest, happiest smile I had ever seen on you, and all I can remember is crying my eyes out, hugging you SO tightly and barely finding the words to say: ‘’YES, a million times yes!’’

And even though I already knew you were a keeper…that moment cemented it. I literally could not have been any happier, and my world had just gotten a million times better.

E agora, no vosso aniversário, I want to tell you that I was wrong. I thought I couldn’t possibly any happier then, but right now, at this very moment, I can proudly tell you that I am the happiest I have ever been, by far!

Looking back on our life together, our college years, then when real life hit us, and now having this beautiful angel of a daughter, and our relationship being stronger than ever, I don’t think there is anyone more grateful than I am today.

You are the most loving husband I ever could’ve dreamed of. Your support through our daily life is everything to me. The way you look at me gives me instant comfort and a sense of security.

É a minha pedraO meu salvador e o meu confidente mais próximo. Fazes com que os momentos mais difíceis sejam mais fáceis e os melhores muito melhores!

I wish you the happiest birthday my love… It truly is a special day. I didn’t think I would find something like this ever. I thought that love of this kind existed only in movies and that real life was way different.

Meeting you proved to me that I really don’t need that movie type of love anyway. I love you now more than I ever did then. I don’t need you to be perfect (even though you are the closest thing to it). I just need you to estar presentee tu és!

Quando estava a passar por um período difícil durante o último ano da faculdade, despedindo-me da Stella e do nosso grupo, sentindo-me tão deprimida por ter de me separar (apenas fisicamente) da minha melhores amigos no mundo... foste tão compreensivo e solidário.

Há alguns anos, quando decidiste fazer-me a melhor surpresa de sempre e trouxeste secretamente a Stella para o meu aniversário, fiquei muito grata por saberes exatamente o que me faria chorar de alegria.

Flying in my best friend that I loved (and still do) like a sister, whom I hadn’t seen in a whole year made my entire week! I didn’t know if I was happier for seeing her or for having the world’s most thoughtful husband!

Obrigada mais uma vez, meu amor, por me conheceres tão bem e por fazeres sempre tudo o que está ao teu alcance para que eu seja o mais feliz possível! Como te poderei retribuir?

Thank you for being the most selfless human being I know. You always do what’s right, not caring how it affects you personally, and you always put everyone else’s needs before your own.

És uma amiga incrível e eu sei o quanto os teus amigos te adoram! Adoro ver-te ser tão gentil, divertida e humilde com todos eles, e não me surpreende nada que todos eles apareçam sempre que precisas deles.

You are the world’s greatest dad! I know our journey to parenthood was a challenging and a difficult one, to say the least… but you persevered, and you never gave up. When I was close to giving up, you were the one encouraging me to keep going and not lose hope.

E hoje, depois de anos de luta para conceber, o nosso anjinho perfeito está aqui, e tu nunca deixas de lhe mostrar o quanto o papá a ama!

Ver-vos aos dois juntos é o meu passatempo preferido. Ela gosta tanto de ti. Adoro como ela quer sempre que lhe leias uma história para adormecer. Adoro a forma como falas com ela, como a acarinhas e como tens sempre tempo para ela.

You never let her feel like she’s alone. If she wants you to play with her, you drop everything and you’re right there on the floor, up to your elbows in toys, coloring books, and whatnot.

Sempre soube que serias um pai fantástico. É algo tão natural para ti. E adoro a ligação que tens com a nossa menina. Vocês os dois são as minhas pessoas preferidas na Terra!

Tenho muito orgulho em chamar-te meu marido. Sei que não gostas muito de PDA, mas eu gosto, e os teus aniversários são a única altura em que me deixas exprimir o meu profundo amor e gratidão por ti sem revirares os olhos (de brincadeira, claro!).

Ficas muito tímido quando és elogiado, o que é uma das muitas razões pelas quais Eu amo-te so much. You just do these amazing things for everyone, never expect anything in return and don’t seek validation, ever. You just do it out of the goodness of your heart.

Thank you for making me so happy every single day. Thank you for being understanding when my work schedule is crazy, and you have to pick up our girl when it’s my turn.

Thank you for never complaining when I ask you to drop everything and do something last minute. I know it’s not convenient for you, and I never take it for granted.

Thank you for loving my family like it’s your own! You have no idea how much it means to me seeing your bond with my parents and my sisters. They all love you almost as much as I do.

I genuinely think that there isn’t a person in this world you can’t get along with!

Thank you for not pressuring me to get a job straight out of college even though we could’ve used the extra money. Thank you for letting me find something I truly felt passionate about, and not making me feel like I was foolish for taking so much time finding myself.

Obrigado por seres o meu protetor. Obrigada por me fazeres sentir sempre tão segura. Obrigado por seres o meu ombro para chorar e a minha pessoa preferida para partilhar notícias felizes.

Whenever I’m down, you always know just what to say to put a smile on my face. You truly are one special person, my love! I don’t think I have ever laughed with anyone the amount I laugh with you!

Sometimes I feel like you should be a comedian, but then I change my mind because I don’t want to share you! I am too selfish that way. I want you all to myself.

Meeting you ten years ago was truly one of the best decisions I have ever made, and thinking what would’ve happened with my life had I not met you is unbearable.

Tudo é muito melhor contigo perto de mim! Agradeço às minhas estrelas da sorte por me terem abençoado com o homem mais fantástico com que alguma vez me atrevi a sonhar.

Feliz aniversário, querida, espero que saibas o quanto te estimo. Tu e a nossa menina são as coisas mais preciosas do mundo para mim, e vou passar a vida a fazer-te sentir amada e acarinhada.
