Ela tinha a certeza que vocês estavam na mesma página. E quem é que a pode culpar? Nunca disseste nada que a fizesse pensar o contrário.

She remembers telling you that she was sure about you, that she was there to stay a lifetime. She remembers you telling her that you felt the same way. That’s why nothing that happened later on made any sense to her.

Pelo menos já não. Costumava fazê-lo antes. Ela queria tanto que mudasses a tua maneira de ser, mas nunca imaginou que fosse para pior.

Perdeste-a porque ela já não te reconhecia. You weren’t the man she fell for. That sweet and loving man who had all the time in the world for her was no longer there.

As vossas visitas eram mais curtas. Esperavas cada vez mais tempo para responder às suas mensagens. Desmarcavas os planos que tinhas feito com ela se aparecesse algo melhor. Só estavas lá quando era necessário conveniente e nem mais um momento.

Perdeste-a porque a fizeste pensar que ela era a única causa dos teus problemas. Disse-lhe que ela não era assim tão inocente em tudo isto. Que muitos dos problemas que tinhas eram com ela.

She lacked understanding, she hadn’t supported you enough and so on and so on. Your claims were unfounded because even though she admitted she knew she wasn’t perfect, she knew that she had done her best for your relationship.

Perdeste-a porque pediste desculpa em vão. Saying, “I am sorry,” meant nothing to you. You would say the words and go ahead and do it again.

Saberias como acalmá-la e voltar a ficar do lado dela. Mas ela começou a ver através de ti. Viu que todas as tuas desculpas não valiam nada.

Perdeste-a porque nunca lhe deste valor. You mistook her kindness for weakness. You took her for granted. You couldn’t see how amazing she was just because she was so grounded and humble.

She would always put herself in your shoes before making a decision. You couldn’t recognize all the efforts she made to understand you better.

Perdeste-a por a tratares como se ela fosse a tua rede de segurança. Sabias o quanto ela te amava, por isso pensaste que podias ir e vir quando quisesses.

You thought no matter what you did, she would always forgive you, she would always take you back. She had done so before so why wouldn’t she now?

Mas tu atingiste esse limite dentro dela. O limite que ela própria desconhecia. Nessa altura, ela soube que já era suficiente.

That if she kept on forgiving you it would be a lifetime all right but a lifetime of misery. And misery was one word and one feeling that she couldn’t connect with love. She chose to make herself happy by refusing to let you continue making her infeliz.

That’s why this time, her goodbye is final. She can’t wait anymore. She can’t be the one who understands and forgives anymore.
