Carta abierta a mi mejor amiga: Te mereces el mundo

You know… Sometimes words just aren’t enough to describe our feelings to a loved one. To someone who means the world to you… The world and so much more… That special someone and the person with whom I share the strongest and deepest connection is mi mejor amiga.

And even though words can’t portray everything she means to me, I decided to pour out my feelings in this short letter and thank her for everything she did and is still doing for me. So, here it is… An open letter to my mejor amigomi roca y mi compañera para siempre.

Querido mejor amigo,

I know you’d argue with me on this one, but I really think you deserve the world.

It floors me that you’re not even aware of what a good friend you are.

Actually, you’re not aware of that más of the time. That’s why I’m writing this heartfelt open carta a mi mejor amigo, a mi alma gemela platónica, to “my person,” … to you.

El único que me conoce tan profundamente, y sin embargo elige amarme con tanto orgullo.

Tengo que admitir que a menudo me pregunto qué he hecho para merecerte.

You came just at the right moment in my life, and you’ve stuck around through thick and thin.

I thank God every single day that our paths crossed because you’re the best thing that’s happened to me in a long time. Because of you, I’m even more sure that someone’s watching over me from above.

You light up the room the moment you enter it, and you’re so oblivious to that.

And it’s so hard to not notice it. It comes naturally to people to shift their attention to you, and you’re none the wiser.

Creo sinceramente que me haces mejor persona sólo por ser mi mejor amiga y ayudándome a navegar en esta cosa llamada vida.

You’re not one of those attention seekers. You are so down-to-earth and modest.

You’re not even trying, and that’s what makes you even more interesting and why people are drawn to you. You deal with real life and all of its ups and downs with such grace and poise.

La gente quiere estar contigo. Quieren hacerse amigos tuyos. Quieren que tu energía se transfiera a ellos.

Y tú les das eso. Les das ese toque de positividad y fuerza para seguir adelante.

You’re mi mejor amigo en la tierra, but you’re also a dear friend to so many more people we know.

You’re the type of person who makes people’s hearts warm whenever they’re around you.

You make every person around you feel better without even needing to try hard. You’re the first person to lift everyone up and ask for nothing in return.

Being kind-hearted comes so naturally to you. And I’m glad I get to be around you and have your kindness warm my heart as well.

If I could go back in time to when I was in high school, I’d choose you to be my BFF a million times over.

See, you’re the kind of person that only those that never had the privilege of meeting you could live without.

They end up needing your warmth and your tenderness because it’s so easy to get addicted to it.

En este mundo frío, todos necesitamos más gente como tú, con tu energía positiva y tu risueña sentido del humor.

People need you because you’re genuinely there for them. You are everyone’s shoulder to cry on.

You’re their helping hand in their times of need. You enrich people’s lives more than anyone else I know.

You’re the first to fight for the people you care about, and, knowing you, I doubt you’d have to think twice before jumping into a battlefield and defending those who you truly love.

You’re the most precious gem and you know why? Because you’re un verdadero amigo. And that’s so hard to find in this everchanging and hurried world. True friends have truly become a rarity these days.

Lo que más me llama la atención es tu capacidad de perdonar. You do more than just say they are forgiven – you actually mean it.

You’ve been through an awful breakup and you survived heartbreak and yet, you still managed to find the strength deep down in your heart to forgive the guy who made you go through a real hell.

That’s exactly the thing about you that amazes me the most… Your ability to always be the bigger person. Even if people break your heart, even if they betray you or hurt you, you always find a way to see past it all and move on.

A veces lleva más tiempo y a veces un poco menos, pero nunca se ve a la gente a través de sus errores.

Usted nunca guardes rencor o mantener sus deslices contra ellos para la eternidad.

Because you love to believe there is more to them than their mistakes. Because you don’t want to poison your own heart with hate and contempt.

Crees que todo el mundo merece ser amado y que todo el mundo merece una segunda oportunidad.

Por eso estoy tan convencida de que vas a ser tan buena madre algún día.

While we’re talking about motherhood… I’ll never forget that you were there for me when my mother died. That was definitely the hardest period of my life, and of course, you were there for me, supporting me through my grief.

I’ll never forget that you were with me that first time I visited her grave and all those letters for Mother’s Day you helped me write for her, for my guardian angel in heaven.

You cried with me and you tried so hard to make me smile and to soothe my pain. That’s what verdaderos amigos do… They laugh together but they also do cry together… And they’re always there for each other, no matter what.

You find hope in people where nobody would ever think of looking, and you keep fighting when any normal person would’ve given up a long time ago.You find a reason to believe in people even when they don’t believe in themselves.

You’re always there for them even if they aren’t always there for you. And you care for them even when they forget about themselves.

I can’t remember a single person you let down because you’re always there to offer people your arms to hug them, your heart to show compassion, and your presence to listen to them and show them they’re not alone.

You don’t let go of people – you always find a reason to stay and try again.

You give your love without holding anything back because love, for you, isn’t an option; love is your mantra, and you decide to give all of your love to others so purely and without even expecting anything in return.

That’s how selfless you are. That’s what’s so amazing about you. And that’s what I love the most about you – and the fact that you always wear your heart on your sleeve.

It’s not only other people who need you. I need you, too, and more than you can wrap your mind around.

You see, you’re way stronger than you realize. You’re a fighter, and yet you’re so sensitive and kind. You’re funny and you’re smart. You’re beautiful, and you’re breathtakingly powerful.

Eres todo esto; eres el universo entero en una sola persona. Nunca he conocido a nadie tan completo como tú.

Impactas a la gente de tal manera que quieren ser la mejor versión de sí mismos. Se esfuerzan por conseguir más. Alcanzan las estrellas.

You influence people. You change them for the better in a way, but please don’t ever let people change you. Don’t let them ruin your kindness or your spark.

Don’t let them turn you into something different or make you believe you should be somebody else, because out of all the people I know, you are the one that God created almost perfectly.

You’re the easiest person to love on this earth and don’t let anyone convince you otherwise.

Don’t ever change. Don’t give up on the person you are, and please never give up on me either.

Because you are a true blessing in my life. You’re my sister – perhaps not by blood, but definitely by heart.

El año pasado fue difícil para los dos. Lo odio porque nos hizo tomar caminos distintos en la vida y puso nuestra amistad a la terrible prueba de la distancia. Pero no hizo más que confirmar lo que ya sabíamos: que compartimos un vínculo sólido como una roca y que no hay obstáculo que pueda dañarlo o destruirlo.

Te echo de menos más y más a medida que pasan los días. Tu presencia es algo que añoro cada día. Acostumbrarme a estar cerca de ti tan a menudo ha hecho que sea mucho más difícil hacer esto de la larga distancia.

Don’t get me wrong. There is nobody on the planet I am more secure in than you.

Echo de menos la forma en que tu mera presencia es capaz de hacerme ver lo bueno en todo. La forma en que me haces reír cuando solo quiero llorar.

Usted es un ángel enviado del cielo para velar por mí.

Realmente lo creo. Cuando estaba en mi punto más bajo, me ayudaste a levantarme. Nunca lo olvidaré.

Eras esa voz de la razón que me recordaba que debía quererme más a mí misma.

I was drowning in self-pity and my insecurities. I was wounded by other people, by toxic relationships, and I thought I wasn’t enough. Being desperate and alone had become my comfort zone.

Pero a tus ojos, siempre fui suficiente. Siempre me dijiste que soy exactamente lo que siempre debí ser.

Dios me hizo así por una razón, y sé que debo estar agradecido. Todos somos únicos y aprender a aceptar todos nuestros defectos forma parte de la vida de la que nadie puede escapar.Cuando me iba bien en la vida, tú eras el único que se alegraba por mí mientras todos los demás me envidiaban.

I know that can be harder than being with somebody through bad times. People find comfort in the misery of others because they realize that they are not alone in theirs. In a way, that’s human and pretty normal.

But you are better than that. No matter what stage of your life you are in, you are always happy for others or you empathize with their sadness. It’s a gift, I’m telling you.

Creo que el mundo necesita más gente como tú. Sería un lugar mejor para vivir.

I know you don’t see yourself in the way I’ve written here, but that’s only because you’ve never looked at yourself through my eyes.

You do deserve the world because you’re there for people who te necesitoy haces de este mundo un lugar verdaderamente mejor.

Si aún te preguntas por qué estoy escribiendo esto carta abierta a mi mejor amigo...a ti, al mejor amigo que una persona puede pedir, hay un par de razones.

First, I want to tell you that I see you. And I admire everything you’ve shown me till this moment. I admire your kindness, your courage, and your drive.

Incluso cuando te caes, nunca te quedas abajo. Y siempre que me caigo, me levantas.

Y quiero darte las gracias por elegirme y formar parte de mi vida. Estoy eternamente agradecida por tener a alguien como tú a mi lado.

Quiero recordarte que mereces mucho más de lo que estás recibiendo.

I want to remind you that you can’t just keep on giving, you have to take something back from time to time.If you exhaust yourself emotionally, if you harm your own mental health, there will be nothing to give to others or to yourself. You can’t pour from an empty cup.

Haga su top autocuidado prioridad mimarse y quererse cada día más.

Oh, ¿podríamos planear una pequeña escapada de fin de semana sólo para nosotras dos o podríamos organizar una fiesta de bienestar sólo para chicas en casa? O podemos organizar una fiesta de pijamas con películas chick flick tendencia de Netflix.

We didn’t do it for ages and I really miss hanging out with you alone and in person. Thank God for this modern technology and social media because I don’t know how I could live without talking with you every day.

Remember that you also deserve the true love, respect, kindness and everything else you’re unselfishly pouring onto others.

Remember that you need to do things for yourself, too. And don’t forget that I am here for you just as much as you are for me.

One day, you’re going to be standing by my side on my día de la boda, haciendo que mis nervios desaparecieran y riéndose todo el día conmigo, como siempre hacemos. No puedo esperar a compartir ese momento con vosotros, ¡junto con toda una vida de recuerdos que nos esperan!

I hope you know how loved, adored, and appreciated you are. By me and by everyone whose life you’ve selflessly entered. You are a gem that shines brighter than the sun.

Sigue siendo tú y yo seguiré queriéndote me lleve donde me lleve la vida.
