Querida futura novia,

This is a farewell to the previous, crazy and adventurous, chapter of your life and a salutation to an even more adventurous and beautiful chapter you’re about to open.

I must be dreaming because we are still way too young to be getting married and starting families of our own, aren’t we? Clearly not, though, since we are approaching thirty. Yikes, it hurts even to say it out loud.

It’s amazing to see so much love intertwined with friendship. Because you truly are best friends.

A veces basta una palabra o incluso una simple mirada entre los dos para entenderlo todo.

A vuestras caras nunca parece faltarles una sonrisa. Cuando os veo juntos, sé que así es el amor de verdad.

You are so laid-back and comfortable around each other that it’s just amazing to watch.

Tienes chistes internos que no temes compartir con el resto del público, aunque nadie los entendería excepto tú.

The wedding dress will be amazing—I already saw you in it. You really do look like a princess and this is the day where you get to feel like one too.

The room will be filled with yellow roses. I am glad you didn’t listen to all the advice from people telling you it’s not trendy right now or that the color yellow stands for jealousy.

The cake will also be just like you—simple, sweet and delicate. You didn’t want anything over the top, so everything will be so tasteful and elegant.

Sé que te preocupan algunas cosas sobre las que no tienes influencia, como el discurso de boda or your man’s wedding vows (or even worse, what the weather will be like, whether it is going to rain or not, if the food is going to be according to everybody’s tastes and so on), but in one thing you can be sure; you’ll have the best maid of honor’s speech.

But don’t get upset if everything doesn’t go as planned on your wedding day; it’s all really irrelevant—just look into his eyes and make it your only plan to celebrate becoming his wife and sharing yours forever with him.

I know that even though this is the happiest day of your life, it’s also going to have its sad side. Unfortunately, life is not always fair and some familiares que siempre quisiste estar a tu lado en este gran día ya no están con nosotros.

I know it will make your eyes teary and I know it won’t be easy for you to accept the fact that they are gone forever.

Please remember that they are with you nevertheless—they are smiling from heaven, looking down on you.

They’ll be with you on the morning of your wedding day and throughout the entire wedding party. They’ll stay with you for the rest of your life, watching over you from above. They’re your guardian angels who’ll never abandon you.

And please, don’t let them see you cry. Don’t let them feel responsible for those tears. Let them be happy for you. Let them share your bliss.

Deja que permanezcan en tu corazón todo el tiempo. Siempre van a formar parte de ti, igual que forman parte de este día; aunque no estén aquí en carne y hueso, sus espíritus estarán aquí y te acompañarán en este gran día y en todos los demás días de tu vida.

So be strong and don’t let the sadness overwhelm you, as there is no place for that on your wedding day.

I’m sure that this will be the mejor día in your life and a grand entering into a new phase of your life. It’s going to be full of new, unfamiliar and unknown things but don’t let that scare you. You will learn as you go.

Make plans but don’t get sad if they don’t all work out as you planned. You can’t always plan life, sometimes things just happen.

So don’t worry about what will be and enjoy this special day of yours. Take in every moment because that day will go by so quickly but it will certainly be one you will remember your entire life.

Algunas cosas creo que ya las sabías y otras son más fáciles de escribir que de decir en voz alta.

Let her know that you’ll always be there for her

She probably knows it already, but it’s nice to write about your sincere feelings for her and mention how much she and your friendship mean to you.

Let her know that just because she’s beginning a new chapter in life, it doesn’t mean that your friendship stays in the previous one. She’s your best friend and she’ll stay tu mejor amiga de por vida, pase lo que pase.

Tell her also that you’ll always be there for her, supporting her in every decision she makes and helping her with everything life brings to her path.

You’re about to take different paths in life but that doesn’t mean that your friendship ends there. Nurture your bond wherever life takes you and no matter what happens because, after all, true friends are the greatest gift of life.
