Lettera aperta al mio migliore amico: Ti meriti il mondo

You know… Sometimes words just aren’t enough to describe our feelings to a loved one. To someone who means the world to you… The world and so much more… That special someone and the person with whom I share the strongest and deepest connection is la mia migliore amica.

And even though words can’t portray everything she means to me, I decided to pour out my feelings in this short letter and thank her for everything she did and is still doing for me. So, here it is… An open letter to my migliore amico, la mia roccia e la mia compagna per sempre.

Caro migliore amico,

I know you’d argue with me on this one, but I really think you deserve the world.

It floors me that you’re not even aware of what a good friend you are.

Actually, you’re not aware of that più of the time. That’s why I’m writing this heartfelt open lettera al mio migliore amico, al mio anima gemella platonica, to “my person,” … to you.

L'unico che mi conosce così profondamente, eppure sceglie di amarmi con orgoglio.

Devo ammettere che spesso mi chiedo cosa ho fatto per meritarti.

You came just at the right moment in my life, and you’ve stuck around through thick and thin.

I thank God every single day that our paths crossed because you’re the best thing that’s happened to me in a long time. Because of you, I’m even more sure that someone’s watching over me from above.

You light up the room the moment you enter it, and you’re so oblivious to that.

And it’s so hard to not notice it. It comes naturally to people to shift their attention to you, and you’re none the wiser.

Credo sinceramente che mi rendiate una persona migliore con il solo fatto di essere la mia migliore amica e mi aiuta a navigare in questa cosa chiamata vita.

You’re not one of those attention seekers. You are so down-to-earth and modest.

You’re not even trying, and that’s what makes you even more interesting and why people are drawn to you. You deal with real life and all of its ups and downs with such grace and poise.

Le persone vogliono stare intorno a voi. Vogliono fare amicizia con voi. Vogliono che la vostra energia si trasferisca a loro.

E voi date loro questo. Darete loro quel tocco di positività e di forza per andare avanti.

You’re il mio migliore amico sulla terra, but you’re also a dear friend to so many more people we know.

You’re the type of person who makes people’s hearts warm whenever they’re around you.

You make every person around you feel better without even needing to try hard. You’re the first person to lift everyone up and ask for nothing in return.

Being kind-hearted comes so naturally to you. And I’m glad I get to be around you and have your kindness warm my heart as well.

If I could go back in time to when I was in high school, I’d choose you to be my BFF a million times over.

See, you’re the kind of person that only those that never had the privilege of meeting you could live without.

They end up needing your warmth and your tenderness because it’s so easy to get addicted to it.

People need you because you’re genuinely there for them. You are everyone’s shoulder to cry on.

You’re their helping hand in their times of need. You enrich people’s lives more than anyone else I know.

You’re the first to fight for the people you care about, and, knowing you, I doubt you’d have to think twice before jumping into a battlefield and defending those who you truly love.

You’re the most precious gem and you know why? Because you’re un vero amico. And that’s so hard to find in this everchanging and hurried world. True friends have truly become a rarity these days.

Ciò che mi colpisce di più è la vostra capacità di perdonare. You do more than just say they are forgiven – you actually mean it.

You’ve been through an awful breakup and you survived heartbreak and yet, you still managed to find the strength deep down in your heart to forgive the guy who made you go through a real hell.

That’s exactly the thing about you that amazes me the most… Your ability to always be the bigger person. Even if people break your heart, even if they betray you or hurt you, you always find a way to see past it all and move on.

A volte ci vuole più tempo e a volte un po' meno, ma non si vedono mai le persone attraverso i loro errori.

Tu non serbare mai rancore o tenere i loro scivoloni contro di loro per l'eternità.

Because you love to believe there is more to them than their mistakes. Because you don’t want to poison your own heart with hate and contempt.

Credete che tutti meritino di essere amati e che tutti meritino una seconda possibilità.

Ecco perché sono così convinta che un giorno sarai un'ottima mamma.

While we’re talking about motherhood… I’ll never forget that you were there for me when my mother died. That was definitely the hardest period of my life, and of course, you were there for me, supporting me through my grief.

I’ll never forget that you were with me that first time I visited her grave and all those letters for Mother’s Day you helped me write for her, for my guardian angel in heaven.

You cried with me and you tried so hard to make me smile and to soothe my pain. That’s what veri amici do… They laugh together but they also do cry together… And they’re always there for each other, no matter what.

You find hope in people where nobody would ever think of looking, and you keep fighting when any normal person would’ve given up a long time ago.You find a reason to believe in people even when they don’t believe in themselves.

You’re always there for them even if they aren’t always there for you. And you care for them even when they forget about themselves.

I can’t remember a single person you let down because you’re always there to offer people your arms to hug them, your heart to show compassion, and your presence to listen to them and show them they’re not alone.

You don’t let go of people – you always find a reason to stay and try again.

You give your love without holding anything back because love, for you, isn’t an option; love is your mantra, and you decide to give all of your love to others so purely and without even expecting anything in return.

That’s how selfless you are. That’s what’s so amazing about you. And that’s what I love the most about you – and the fact that you always wear your heart on your sleeve.

It’s not only other people who need you. I need you, too, and more than you can wrap your mind around.

You see, you’re way stronger than you realize. You’re a fighter, and yet you’re so sensitive and kind. You’re funny and you’re smart. You’re beautiful, and you’re breathtakingly powerful.

Tu sei tutto questo, sei l'intero universo in una sola persona. Non ho mai conosciuto nessuno così completo come te.

Avete un impatto sulle persone che le spinge a voler essere la versione migliore di se stesse. Si sforzano di ottenere di più. Raggiungono le stelle.

You influence people. You change them for the better in a way, but please don’t ever let people change you. Don’t let them ruin your kindness or your spark.

Don’t let them turn you into something different or make you believe you should be somebody else, because out of all the people I know, you are the one that God created almost perfectly.

You’re the easiest person to love on this earth and don’t let anyone convince you otherwise.

Don’t ever change. Don’t give up on the person you are, and please never give up on me either.

Because you are a true blessing in my life. You’re my sister – perhaps not by blood, but definitely by heart.

L'anno scorso è stato difficile per entrambi. Lo odio perché ci ha fatto prendere strade diverse nella vita e ha messo la nostra amicizia alla terribile prova della distanza. Ma ha solo confermato quello che già sappiamo: che abbiamo un legame solido come una roccia e che non c'è ostacolo che possa danneggiarlo o distruggerlo.

Mi manchi sempre più con il passare dei giorni. La tua presenza è qualcosa che desidero ogni giorno. Abituarmi a starti vicino così spesso ha reso ancora più difficile questa cosa a distanza.

Don’t get me wrong. There is nobody on the planet I am more secure in than you.

Mi manca il modo in cui la tua sola presenza è in grado di farmi vedere il bene in ogni cosa. Il modo in cui mi fai ridere quando vorrei solo piangere.

Voi siete un angelo mandato dal cielo per vegliare su di me.

Lo credo davvero. Quando ero al mio punto più basso, mi hai aiutato a rialzarmi. Non lo dimenticherò mai.

Sei stata la voce della ragione che mi ha ricordato di amare di più me stessa.

I was drowning in self-pity and my insecurities. I was wounded by other people, by toxic relationships, and I thought I wasn’t enough. Being desperate and alone had become my comfort zone.

Ma ai tuoi occhi sono sempre stata sufficiente. Mi hai sempre detto che sono esattamente ciò che sono sempre stata destinata a essere.

Dio mi ha fatto così per un motivo e so che dovrei esserne grata. Siamo tutti unici e imparare ad accettare tutti i nostri difetti fa parte della vita da cui nessuno può sfuggire.Quando mi andava bene la vita, eri l'unico ad essere felice per me, mentre tutti gli altri erano invidiosi.

I know that can be harder than being with somebody through bad times. People find comfort in the misery of others because they realize that they are not alone in theirs. In a way, that’s human and pretty normal.

But you are better than that. No matter what stage of your life you are in, you are always happy for others or you empathize with their sadness. It’s a gift, I’m telling you.

Credo che il mondo abbia bisogno di più persone come lei. Sarebbe un posto migliore in cui vivere.

I know you don’t see yourself in the way I’ve written here, but that’s only because you’ve never looked at yourself through my eyes.

You do deserve the world because you’re there for people who bisogno di tee rendete questo mondo un posto davvero migliore.

First, I want to tell you that I see you. And I admire everything you’ve shown me till this moment. I admire your kindness, your courage, and your drive.

Anche quando cadi, non resti mai a terra. E ogni volta che cado, mi tiri su.

E voglio ringraziarti per avermi scelto e per aver fatto parte della mia vita. Sono eternamente grato di avere una persona come te al mio fianco.

Voglio ricordarvi che meritate molto di più di quello che state ottenendo.

I want to remind you that you can’t just keep on giving, you have to take something back from time to time.If you exhaust yourself emotionally, if you harm your own mental health, there will be nothing to give to others or to yourself. You can’t pour from an empty cup.

Fate in modo che il vostro top cura di sé priorità di coccolarsi e amarsi ogni giorno di più.

Potremmo organizzare un piccolo weekend di fuga solo per noi due o organizzare un party benessere per sole ragazze a casa? Oppure possiamo organizzare un pigiama party con i film di tendenza di Netflix.

We didn’t do it for ages and I really miss hanging out with you alone and in person. Thank God for this modern technology and social media because I don’t know how I could live without talking with you every day.

Remember that you also deserve the true love, respect, kindness and everything else you’re unselfishly pouring onto others.

Remember that you need to do things for yourself, too. And don’t forget that I am here for you just as much as you are for me.

One day, you’re going to be standing by my side on my giorno del matrimonioMi ha fatto passare i nervi e ha riso con me per tutta la giornata, come facciamo sempre. Non vedo l'ora di condividere quel momento con voi, insieme a una vita di ricordi che ci aspettano!

I hope you know how loved, adored, and appreciated you are. By me and by everyone whose life you’ve selflessly entered. You are a gem that shines brighter than the sun.

Continua a essere te e io continuerò ad amarti, non importa dove mi porterà la vita.
