Love is a beautiful thing, but simply loving someone doesn’t mean your relationship will be successful.
By solely thinking about love, we often forget a second term which is closely connected (if not interconnected) with love.
That term is balance! Balance is the magic ingredient that is responsible for establishing a healthy and happy relationship.
And when you love someone more than they love you, there is no balance in such relationships because most of the things and feelings rest on your shoulders.
You become the one in charge of a relationship, and when that happens, you are basically no longer in a relationship. You become the captain of a ship that is bound to sink.
If you still believe that there will always be one person who loves more, think again.
This belief is made up by those who needed to find an excuse to stay in such a relationship.
This is not the norm, and it is not something that ought to be.
Loving someone more than they love you is like being on a dead-end street, and here’s what happens when you find yourself in such a relationship!
1. Love is not shared equally
When you love someone more than they love you, love is not equal. There is a huge imbalance in the way love is expressed.
Since you love them more, you tell them more beautiful things and give them more compliments which they will rarely or never return.
And since you love them more, you don’t hold grudges if they forget to say ‘I love you’ or do something nice for you.
You don’t see it as something that shouldn’t be, and that is where you lose the balance in a relationship.

2. They make plans and decisions without you
When you love someone more than they love you, they are always a part of your every plan and decision.
You always ask them for a piece of advice because you care how they feel about certain matters. But, does your partner do the same for you?
When you love someone more than they love you, they feel free to make plans and decisions without you.
They don’t care whether you’ll agree with their decision, and they don’t include you in all of their future plans.
3. They are not interested in your personal life as much as you’d want them to be
Those who love less in a relationship are also less interested in your personal life.
They don’t really bother that much (as much as you’d want them to) about what is happening in your life, whether someone or something bothers you, and how you are feeling about certain things.
You often feel alone as if you’re in a relationship with yourself because they seldom ask you about any of your personal things.
And because you love them more, you often don’t notice this, and even if you do, you accept it as something normal that happens in any relationship.
4. They take your love for granted
It is easy to be loyal and loving when you love someone more than they love you.
And it is easy to take someone for granted when you know they love you more than you love them.
This promise that you will always love them regardless of what they say or do to you is what makes them take your love for granted.
When there is no balance in a relationship, there will always be someone who will feel safer than the other.
And the one who will feel safer to do whatever they want is the one who loves less.

5. Most of the effort of the relationship rests on your shoulders
When you love someone more than they love you, all of the effort of the relationship starts to rest on your shoulders.
You become the one who is more responsible in a relationship, you become the one who is constantly worrying about certain things and, most importantly, you become the one making most of the effort.
Over time, you stop expecting them to do anything nice for you because you got used to their inactivity.
When you love someone more than they love you, you become the active one and they the passive one.
6. You have to constantly compete with friends (or family) for your partner’s time
Loving someone less than you are loved back means doing whatever you want and whenever you want because you’re not worried about spending enough time with your partner.
If you’ve noticed that you have to constantly compete with your partner’s friends or family to spend time with them, then you know your relationship lacks balance, and you’re the one who loves more in a relationship.
7. You always make excuses for their behavior
Loving someone more than you are loved back means always making excuses for their behavior because of one simple reason—because you love them A LOT.
And that is the main reason why you become stuck on a dead-end street.
The more you make excuses for their behavior, the more they take you for granted.
Loving someone more than they love you back is always temporary, but loving each other equally is eternal.
It is the only recipe for unconditional, lasting love and relationship.
