No matter what society tells you and how demanding it can be, believe it or not, you are allowed to have your own opinion.
People haven’t evolved yet to the point where they realize that we are not all the same and that it’s okay. Living your life the way your grandma lived it, just because she did, is EXTREMELY IRRATIONAL. You are not your grandma, this is not 50 years ago. You see, it’s actually strange that it’s not 50 years ago but people are still the same.
What’s really funny to me is that everyone’s scared of the future because they think that artificial intelligence will take over the world but they don’t realize that they are nothing better than robots. I’ve met a lot of people in my life and noticed how they act very similar even though they’ve never seen each other before. Then I realized that they have something in common—parents. No, I’m not talking about long-lost twin brothers. I’m saying how our parents have all been raised the same way. They do things just because they think they have to. That’s how their parents raised them and that’s how they’re raising us.
“You should get married before 30.” That is the MOST ANNOYING rule to live by. I’ve heard this so many times in my life and each and every time it sounds even more stupid. When I ask why, no one dares to answer because they don’t have any logical answer. But will they even think about it? No. They learned that that’s how it’s supposed to be and simply went with the flow. WELCOME TO THE 21st CENTURY, IN WHICH HUMANOID ROBOTS JUDGE REGULAR PEOPLE.
I like to think of myself as a regular human being. Why, you ask? Well, first of all: I THINK. I use this sweet, little brain of mine to realize why I feel the way I feel, why I do the things I do, what I really want and why I want it. Sorry world but I’m not programmed to think I should marry before 30 just because.
It makes me really sad how people choose not to use the superpower they have—their minds. Our minds are magical! They can take us places we’ve never been to or even places that don’t exist. They can memorize more information than any computer in the world. They can create world-changing ideas. But that’s all really tiring, isn’t it? How dare I tell you to think?!
Fine, don’t think, I don’t care. But please, if you’re promoting that outdated philosophy our great-grandparents created, do it in the privacy of your own home.
Don’t judge me if I don’t want to be a stay-at-home mom. Even if I don’t want to be a mom at all! It’s fine. I’m not sick, I’m not crazy, I just have a different opinion from yours. Wow, I’ve just realized, as I’m writing this, what the reality of the situation is: if something is different, then it’s crazy. I don’t think a zebra thinks lions are crazy. Or does it? Now I don’t know anymore.
The point is: different is not sick and twisted. Difference is what makes the world go round (yes, I said difference, not money). Everything in the world has its lovers and haters and so do you and your opinions.
The only way to survive is to focus on the lovers (and objective critics, of course). Don’t even think of focusing on hatred.
Love and you will be loved. Hate is nothing but a waste of time. Therefore, ignore what bugs you, ignore these human robots who choose to go through life blindfolded. Focus on the love you have for yourself and for others who inspire you.
In a world full of flows, be your own calm and steady sea.
