Molto tempo fa, quando ero bambina, mia nonna mi diceva una frase che ricordo ancora molto bene: “Remember to always protect your heart.”
Back then I didn’t quite understand the real meaning of it, but I guess I was just too young and naive.
Ma oggi lo capisco perfettamente e posso confermare con orgoglio che aveva perfettamente ragione!
I’ve learned that no matter how much you’re crazy about someone and how much you love them, you should never forget to protect your heart.
It took me a few years to understand how in the world one can protect one’s heart (and now you’re probably asking yourself the same).
Ebbene, ci si prende cura del proprio cuore evitando che si faccia male. La vera domanda è come farlo.

1. He doesn’t want to put a label on your relationship
Questo è il più grande indicatore che qualcosa non quadra.
Se un ragazzo si rifiuta di definire la vostra relazione, significa che non è sicuro dei suoi sentimenti e della sua durata, ed è per questo che sta cercando di evitare di mettere un'etichetta.
Si rifiuta di parlarne con voi perché sa che rivelerebbe la sua vera natura, indecisa o forse tossica.
2. È un fobico degli impegni
Come nel caso precedente, se un ragazzo vi dice la seguente frase: “I’m not ready to commit,” dovresti assolutamente correre il più lontano possibile.
I mean, what does this even mean? He’s not ready to commit, but he still wants to be with you? Seriously?
Se vuole davvero stare con voi con tutto il suo corpo e il suo cuore, farà in modo di farvi diventare sua e solo sua.

If he avoids meeting your family like the plague, then you can be sure that something’s clearly not right.

a) He’s an extreme introvert and he collapses whenever he tries to meet someone new, or
b) He’s an asshole in disguise and he doesn’t want to be revealed by your family.

He doesn’t want to meet your family because he’s not interested in anything serious with you, he’s aware of his manipulative and toxic nature, and at the same time afraid they might notice it and forbid you to ever date him again.
4. È iperprotettivo nei confronti del suo cellulare
Sembra che abbia sempre il telefono in mano, che dorma con lui e che si infuri se vi trovate a pochi centimetri dalla sua portata?

6. He doesn’t show you off on social media
Non pubblica mai foto di voi come coppia sui social media, ma pubblica regolarmente foto di se stesso, del suo animale domestico o della sua auto.
Ricordo che una mia amica ha avuto lo stesso problema con il ragazzo con cui usciva.
Pubblicava continuamente foto della sua auto e di se stesso, ma non ha mai postato nulla di lei.

7. He only shows up when it’s convenient
Quando gli chiedete di uscire con voi, è sempre occupato e ha altre cose più importanti da fare.
He never shows up when you need him or when you want him to, only when it’s convenient for him and he doesn’t have anything else better to do!
If he does this, it means he’s not trying even one bit per fare di te la sua priorità e, pertanto, non merita né la vostra compagnia né il vostro cuore!
