Ela precisava apenas de uma pequena prova de que existe um futuro feliz para ela e de que lhe vais arranjar um lugar na tua vida, mas isso era, obviamente, pedir demais.

Tudo o que ela sempre quis foi a ti.

She didn’t care about your flaws or your past. She didn’t care about what others told her.

She wanted you to be good so she believed you have good sides just waiting to come to the surface. She didn’t care for anything in this world other than you.

Ela queria amar-te. Queria estar ao teu lado. Queria ver a tua mensagem quando acordasse e queria adormecer a pensar em ti. Ela queria que fosses feliz.

She wanted to have a future with you, to hold your hand in front of everyone and proudly say “This is the guy I love and the guy who loves me.” She didn’t want much. She just wanted to freely love you and to be loved by you.

Tudo o que tinhas de fazer era tratá-la bem.

Não havia necessidade de lhe dar estrelas, mesmo que ela mereciam-nos. Não havia necessidade de presentes caros nem de nada que fosse pedir demasiado.

Só precisavas de a tratar bem. Só precisava de lhe mostrar que ela é importante para si, de lhe mostrar que gosta dela, de lhe dizer o quanto ela significa para si e como quer as mesmas coisas que ela para vocês os dois.

Tudo o que precisavas era de um pequeno esforço para que ela ficasse na tua vida.

But that was too much to ask, wasn’t it?

Even ‘basic’ things, even the smallest effort, even the things she deserved to get were too much for you to give to her?

You weren’t ready to do anything for her, regardless what she did for you.

You just weren’t on the same boat as she was. You didn’t care as much as she did. But you should have.

Recusaste-te a escolhê-la.

When she saw no one else she could be with, you chose to keep your options open and hold her at arm’s length—too scared to lose her but too afraid to commit as well.

Tu aparecias na vida dela ocasionalmente e ela só te tinha na vida dela às vezes.

Não estava disposto a deixar passar todas as outras oportunidades. Queria ter as suas opções em aberto. Pensou que talvez merecesse muito mais do que ela tinha para oferecer e que era demasiado egoísta e voraz.

Por outro lado, ela era tão altruísta quando se tratava de te dar o seu amor.

Você didn’t make her your priority nem valorizou os seus esforços.

Tudo o que ela fez, fê-lo por vocês os dois. Ela tentou e tentou. Ela continuou a encontrar esperança em sítios onde ninguém pensou em procurar.

She stuck by your side even when any other normal person would’ve walked away a long time ago.

But you never saw any of it. Or at least you didn’t bother seeing it. You never acknowledged any of her efforts nor did you bother thanking her for fighting so hard for you. Instead, you took it all for granted.

You thought she’ll stay by your side even if you don’t give her anything. That she’ll fight for you just because. Well, you thought wrong.

Ela cansou-se of fighting for someone who didn’t care if he lost her or not.

Admite, estavas indiferente. Ou pelo menos pensavas que eras. Disse a si próprio que não tinha sentimentos por aquela rapariga e que havia outras melhores do que ela. Ela estava lá para aumentar o seu ego e para ser o seu plano de reserva.

You thought that’s all she’ll ever be to anyone. But you thought wrong once again.

Perdeste-a quando a fizeste implorar pelo teu tempo. Perdeste-a quando lhe mostraste you couldn’t care less for her feelings. Perdeste-a quando te recusaste a fazer um esforço para lutar por ela.

Demorou algum tempo a perceber que estava a lutar por alguém que não se importava de a perder.

De facto planeado para ficarmas tu afastaste-a.

Afastaste-a com o teu comportamento de merda, por não a apreciares, por a tomares como garantida, por a fazeres sentir-se sozinha mesmo quando ela estava contigo.

Parabéns, perdeu uma rapariga única na vida.

They won’t treat you with respect, won’t look at you with admiration as she did.

They won’t make sacrifices as big as she did, nor will they stay when you show them your bad sides. No one will be as silly as she was.

But you know what? You did this one good thing for her. You let her go and open a space for someone who’ll appreciate her and love her the way she deserves to be loved. Who would’ve thought—in the end you did something right.
