I don’t know about you, but I was always the one who was thinking that something bad will happen even if I didn’t have any valid reasons for that. And somewhere along the road, that way of thinking became so natural for me that I didn’t know how to think differently.
Now, when I changed my outlook on life and when I finally realized that I shouldn’t be living in negativity so much, I can feel that I my eyes are finally wide open and that I can see things that were unavailable for me before. I was sick and tired of thinking negatively all the time and I couldn’t enjoy my life to the maximum when things were great.
I was so captured in my own world of nagging thoughts and I couldn’t move forward. But then, overnight, I decided that I couldn’t continue like that anymore and that I craved a change. So, that was what I did. I changed my way of thinking and I finally learned to put myself first.
And most of all, I learned how to beat all those nagging thoughts that were a part of my life for such a long time. So, I bring you all those effective ways that helped me get back on track again.
Say ‘No’ to negative thoughts
I know that it will be difficult for you to switch from negative to positive thoughts but in the end, it will pay off. That is a long-term process, but it is needed for every single human being struggling with nagging thoughts.
You should write down all of your negative thoughts and read them out loud, trying to realize if things were as negative as you thought or you just have twisted reality. Also, bear in mind that maybe you felt down at that time, so even the smallest thing hurt you while in a normal situation, you would just move on after that would happen.
Stay rational
In this process, you need to stay rational and think about things in a normal way. That means not to play the victim every time something bad happens to you because deep down, you know that you are stronger than that and that you can conquer it.
The worst thing you can do is to go with the flow and forget about reality. You should focus on the future and what it has to offer you and stop living in the past. Only when you manage to do that you will finally break free from all your nagging thoughts.
Always seek the positive in negative things
I know that it feels damn hard to see good when something bad happens but you need to do that in order to fight for the life you deserve. Try to find good things from all those bad ones. Let every bad thing that happens to you be a life lesson that you will learn.
And once you learn it, don’t let it happen again. In your worst moments in life, try to see the light at the end of the tunnel and always try to be focused on the future ahead of you.
Take a long breath
You know all those times when you felt like you can’t breathe anymore and that you no longer have control over your life? Well, even if most people forget about this tip so many times, you should always take a deep breath in stressful situations like that.
You need to tell yourself that things will be okay even if they are bad now. You need to believe that because if you really, truly believe in something, it can come true.
Avoid triggers for nagging thoughts
I know that there are things you can’t affect but if you already know what kind of things make you think negatively or what kind of people make you think like that, just stay away from them.
It will save you from tears and constant wondering if you are good enough or if you did something right. Try to get rid of all of the things that make you feel irritated and people who are toxic around you. If you do that, you will definitely have a better quality of life.
Distract yourself
Chances are small that you will think about negative things if you do something that you are interested in. So, to prevent your nagging thoughts, distract yourself and do things that truly make you happy. In that way, you will learn new things and you won’t think about all those negative things you were thinking about before.
Be persistent
Good things don’t happen overnight. You need to go an extra mile if you want to improve your life. If you think that your negative thoughts have become a sort of habit for you, you need to change something about it.
Do whatever it takes to get rid of all those demons from your past. Be persistent about wanting a change in your life and start working on yourself as soon as you can. You will be happy when you realize that you, just like others, can have a life that you truly deserve.
Do a workout
Even if you thought that some exercise can’t help you prevent yourself from thinking nagging thoughts, it is actually not so accurate. When people exercise or just do any kind of physical activity, one hormone increases more than the others and helps us to be happier.
It is called ‘serotonin’ and it is known to increase when we exercise or when we eat sweets. In normal conditions, people feel the increase of this hormone when they fall in love or when something nice happens to them.
Bring positivity into someone else’s life
Once you learn to feel good in your own skin, you will be able to transfer your positive energy to others. Even if you won’t even see that happening, you will help others to embrace all the good changes in their lives and finally live the kind of life they deserve. And once you see that you helped someone to feel better, you will feel worthy and happy as well.
Start each day with positive thoughts
When you wake up in the morning, say to yourself that you’ve decided that this day is going to be a good day. Don’t think about the work you need to do or the assignments you have to accomplish.
Just capture that moment and enjoy it. This will be the perfect beginning to a new day and you will learn to think like that every new day.
