Anche se non riuscite a dimenticarlo del tutto, imparerete a vivere senza di lui

Sono sicuro che non è una cosa che vorreste sentire in questo momento, ma la verità è che a volte non si riesce a dimenticare la persona che si amava un tempo. Rimane sempre una piccola parte di voi e, a volte, non tornate mai alla persona che eravate prima.

No, this doesn’t mean that this person was la tua anima gemella. It doesn’t mean that you won’t find a man you’ll love more than you loved him and it certainly doesn’t mean that you’ll spend the rest of your life missing him the way you miss him now.

Ma la verità è che a volte la persona a cui tenevi così tanto ti cambia per sempre. In un certo senso la si ricorda sempre, per quanto si cerchi di cancellare dalla memoria il fatto che sia mai esistita.

E anche quando si pensa che quest'uomo sia solo una parte del passato e che sia ormai dimenticato, la sua immagine appare proprio davanti agli occhi, dal nulla. Si sente la sua colonia da qualche parte in lontananza o si vede qualcuno che gli assomiglia e tutte le farfalle tornano.

Ci sono alcuni cuori infranti che rimangono sempre bloccati da qualche parte nel profondo di voi e non c'è semplicemente nulla che possiate fare al riguardo. Quando si tratta di alcuni uomini, ci si chiede per sempre cosa sarebbe potuto essere di voi due e non si riesce mai a dimenticarli del tutto.

But one thing is for sure—you learn to live without them, sooner or later. And this is exactly what will happen with this guy as well.

I won’t lie to you—there is a possibility that you never forget all about him. But before you know it, he’ll no longer be the first or the last thing that goes through your mind every single day.

Before you know it, you’ll get used to his absence and you won’t crave his presence anymore. You’ll get used to this person not being a part of your life. And you’ll be OK without him.

One of these days, you’ll start smiling without any particular reason. You’ll hear his name and your heart won’t skip a beat the way it used to.

You’ll stop looking for him on the other side of the bed and your sheets will lose his scent. You won’t think he is calling you every time your phone rings and you’ll stop expecting his text every minute of every day. You’ll accept the fact that ti ha bloccato e vederla come la cosa migliore che vi sia capitata da un po' di tempo a questa parte. 

One of these nights, you won’t even notice that you didn’t cry yourself to sleep. You’ll look forward to a new day, even though you’ll know that he won’t be in it.

One of these days, you’ll take off your rose-tinted glasses and you’ll see this man for who he’s really been all of this time. You’ll stop idealizing him and you’ll finally see all of his flaws and imperfections.

You’ll accept that it was for the better that things turned out the way they did. You’ll accept that you would probably never be happy around this guy, you’ll see all of your incompatibilities and differences and you’ll realize that you weren’t meant to last forever.  

One of these days, you’ll accept the fact that he’s gone and that he isn’t coming back. You won’t expect to see him on your doorstep, asking for forgiveness and just like that—you’ll stop waiting for him.

Just like that, you’ll stop counting the days which have passed since his departure. You’ll stop measuring the time before and after him and you won’t feel like a part of you is missing just because he is not there by your side.

Potreste pensare a lui il giorno del suo compleanno o del vostro anniversario. Potreste rattristarvi quando sentite che si è sposato, pensando a come sarebbe dovuto essere il vostro matrimonio.

You’ll probably spend the next few hours replaying your relationship in your head every time you see him pass by you.

Ma guarirete. Sopravviverete e andare avanti. The pain won’t be all-consuming the way it is now and your heart won’t ache forever—I promise you that.
