Only the ones who have been hurt beyond repair know how hard it is to love again. How hard it is to place your heart in somebody’s hands and pray that they won’t drop it.

You are marked by your past, and there’s nothing you can do about it. You want love, but you don’t want the risk that comes with letting somebody in.

It made you see what you want and what you absolutely won’t tolerate. It made you establish standards and not go beneath them. It made you see your own worth, so you would never again settle for less than you deserve.

And even though there is no guarantee that you won’t get hurt again, it will give you a head start and better odds in choosing in whom you place your trust.
