There are many ways to distract yourself and keep yourself occupied during self-isolation so that you don’t think about the pandemic all day.
This is a time when we should be more creative and productive because we have a lot more free time on our hands.
These difficult times should teach us that we have to care more about others and that by helping others, you are actually helping yourself.
Isolation doesn’t have to be boring. Here are some activities that you can do to keep yourself busy and distracted.
1. Take a nap
You are allowed to take a nap whenever you want to and wherever you want to. Consider this as your little vacation.
Recharge your batteries. Relax and try to compensate for all those sleepless nights when your job or your kids have kept you awake.
2. Do a deep clean
We have to admit, we all have some corners of our home that we don’t clean that often. We don’t have time to deep clean the house every weekend.
This is a perfect opportunity to do it. Dust all the corners that are hard to reach. Clean the inside of the fridge.
Wash all the windows. You’ll see that you’ll feel better after you do all of that, especially if you have kids.
3. Reorganize your closet
We all have many clothes in our closet that we don’t use anymore. Some clothes are old, some of them are too small, others are too big…
Now is the time to organize your closet and get rid of all clothes you don’t wear.
You can do a good deed by giving the clothes you won’t use anymore to someone else, someone who really needs them.
Put everything in bags and donate it all.
4. Take care of your plants
Somehow, we all feel nice and happy around flowers. They definitely do bring some color to our life and that’s why it’s important to have some plants in your surroundings and take good care of them.
5. Work out
This social isolation has already affected our mental health; don’t let it also affect your physical health.
Eat healthier food, exercise often, and maintain a healthy weight.
You don’t need a gym for some physical activities, you can do them in the comfort of your home.
6. Meditate
We are all feeling stressed because of this whole situation and we could all use something to relax with.
There is nothing better to calm you than meditation.
You can choose which meditation you want to use, put on some music, take a deep breath and let it work its magic.
7. Change your appearance
Give yourself manicure or pedicure. Dye your hair by yourself. Get out of your comfort zone and make some serious changes.
Do your make-up in a way you never have before and, of course, take a selfie for your social media.
8. Practice self-care
Create some kind of self-care routine for yourself. You’ve probably saved so many face mask recipes and now it’s time to try them all, as there are so many advantages to them.
You can discover some new mask ideas for your face and body and even for whitening your teeth. They are often easy to make and even easier to apply.
9. Keep a lockdown diary
This is something that’ll help you to deal with this difficult situation and it will also serve as a reminder that once this is all over, how life can change in a minute.
You can also start to write a blog or start vlogging about your life in isolation. You never know, you may become a successful blogger or vlogger after the pandemic ends.
10. Have a deep clean of your social media accounts
Go through your lists of friends and you’ll see how many fake or deleted accounts there are. Clean your list of friends and leave only the people you actually know in person.
Then clean your profiles too. Go to your profiles and scroll down to your old posts and decide what’s worth deleting and what’s worth preserving.
11. Do something good for others
While buying or ordering some groceries online, call your grandparents or some of your elderly neighbors to ask them whether they need anything.
Even though you have to pay attention to social distancing measures, you can still visit them and take them some supplies.
You can see them through the window and leave the groceries on their doorstep.
12. Keep in touch with your loved ones
I know that we all miss our loved ones but we must stay strong as this may be over soon so we can continue with our lives.
Fortunately, thanks to technology, there are many ways of how we can stay in touch with our family and friends.
Send them a message every day to ask them how they are coping with everything or ask if they need any help.
It’s always good to know that someone cares about you.
