Be selfish. Seriously. Be selfish. Since when is it okay to completely ignore your life and your needs to make someone else feel better? What about you? What about your life? Does your life count?
You’re only going to get one chance to live it. There is no going back. You can’t turn back time and if you don’t take care of yourself, one day you’ll be sorry. One day you’ll regret putting yourself last.
Focus on your goals and your dreams because if you don’t try to make yourself happy, no one else will do it for you.
I know who you are because I am you.
You are the one and only shoulder for others to cry on. When your friends feel shitty, they go to you because they know you’ll make them feel better.
You’ll tell them to put themselves first, to love themselves and do what makes them happy. But are you doing the same thing for yourself?
Let me tell you the answer: You’re not. When someone else is hurting, you know just the right thing to say but in the meantime, you don’t even see that you’re going through the same thing.
You completely ignore your own pain.
You don’t even see that you are unhappy, that you put everyone else before you. Your dreams and your goals decay because you’re too busy saving other people’s lives. Just stop it!
Take your own advice and live your life to the fullest!
Change your whole life if you have to. Start all over again.
I know this is easier said than done but if you want things to get better, you really have no other choice.
You can pretend that you’re happy and keep living the way you live but you’ll reach your breaking point and you’ll want to start all over. The thing is, it may happen too late. Maybe then you won’t be able to do anything about it.
So, do it now!
Move to another city if you want to. If you get up every morning with a bad feeling in your stomach because you have to go to a job you hate, change your career. Find something that makes you feel better.
Here’s a thought: If it’s possible, do it.
Don’t worry about other people. Don’t worry about what they are going to say to you or how they are going to react. Think of your new decisions as a means of understanding who actually gives a damn about you.
You’ll see; people who really care for you, people who love you, will support you. They will try to make your path easier and they won’t judge you.
Those who turn their backs on you are the ones who take up most of your energy. They are emotional vampires, people who feed off of you to make themselves feel better.
Life is not easy and this is the cheesiest sentence ever but it’s true: You never know where it’s going to take you. You never know what you are going to live through.
All the roads you have taken, you chose to take for a reason. All the wrong choices you’ve made led you to maturity and realization. Not giving a fuck is just one of the things you have to do.
You have to learn from your mistakes and work on yourself. You have to learn to love yourself because no one is more important to you than yourself.
Don’t be scared of the people who judge. They will always have a reason to say something, no matter what you do. Even if you give it everything you’ve got, they will find a reason to say something bad.
Hang out with whomever you want to hang out with. Do whatever you want to do, even if you know it’s wrong. You have to do it to make sure you won’t do it ever again. Blow off some steam and never hold anything inside.
If you do, it will explode eventually. You won’t be able to hold it in any longer, and then you’ll be screwed. Then you’ll realize that every time you wanted to do something and you didn’t, that was a time you destroyed yourself a little bit more.
Wear whatever you want to wear and hold your head high. Walk down the road like you own it because if you wanted to, you could. No one can harm you and you know it.
Show your self-respect and shine with confidence. Simply stop giving a fuck.
You’re not supposed to live life unnoticed. You were born one of a kind, unique. Live your life that way. Don’t let that beautiful interior of yours perish. Don’t let it go unnoticed.
Shine the brightest you can because you only have this one chance to do it.
Today.
Now.
