My mom is my hero. Always has been and always will be. She is one special lady who has given me a great life and today, I want to share just how much she means to me.
It’s true when they say that a mother’s love knows no bounds.
Through thick and thin, good and bad, a mom is a constant. Even though I don’t tell her nearly often enough, my mom is my own personal hero.
She makes juggling motherhood, career, and an array of other things she does seem like a breeze. But I know it’s not.
She’s the most selfless person I’ve ever met who welcomes everyone into her life with open arms.
She is the most solid support system I’ve ever had and the absolute best mom I ever could’ve hoped for. And I think it’s high time I put my appreciation for her in writing.
So this is for my momma. Without her, nothing is or ever will be the same. I love you, Mom.

10 Genuine Reasons Why My Mom Is My Hero
1. I can go to her for anything with no judgment
Ever since high-school, my mom has been the most important best friend in my life. I always used to believe it was so silly when somebody would call their mother a best friend.
But as I’ve grown and matured, I’ve come to realize this to be a magnificent truth.
She is the first person I’d ever confide in, knowing she has my back no matter what. And at the end of the day, isn’t that so important?
Having a judgment-free zone that helps you alleviate your worries, stress, and problems with just one genuine and comforting conversation? That’s my momma.
Whether I’m struggling with boyfriend issues, having a hard time at work, or falling out with a close friend, she’s the one who gives the best advice.
And I appreciate it now more than I ever could’ve imagined. Nothing could replace the warmth with which she speaks and the tenderness she exudes. My mom, my hero, my world.
2. She is my constant source of inspiration
My mom inspires me more than she knows. I’ve seen her through every single endeavor she’s taken on and she’s handled every single one with dignity and grace.
When things don’t go her way, she’s the last to ever complain. She keeps trying and pushing until she sees results.
She has never been a quitter, which has luckily rubbed off on me.
When I observe her with my dad, I can’t help but smile like a schoolgirl.
Every time they’re doing something (cooking, talking, discussing future plans), you can just sense how much she cares about him.
She always considers his input and happily lets him talk. She never yells or raises her voice. She uses common sense and is extremely patient when hearing the other side.
When it comes to me and my sister, she’s the most thoughtful mom ever.
We all know she’d give anything for our well-being and just by looking at her through her daily chores, I admire her and hope to one day be half the woman she is.

3. She gives the best hugs (and it’s not even close)
Do you ever have those days when you really need a hug but from a specific person?
I do, and that person is my momma. I don’t know what it is, but when she gives me a hug, it’s like every single thing that has been bothering me vanishes in an instant.
Nothing is important anymore as I know that she’s there and everything is somehow okay again. It’s inexplicable yet so soothing and reassuring.
Nothing compares to a mom’s hug. No matter how old you are, a mom’s hug just hits different! Her closeness means everything, especially when your world is crumbling down.
And I can honestly say that mine is my constant cheerleader whose embrace alleviates every single worry from my mind. Just like that!
Sometimes I feel like I don’t deserve her. But I know she’d never let me say that out loud, which just makes me extra grateful to be able to experience her love every single day.
I’m her rainbow child and she never stops showing me how much I mean to her.
4. She is the most selfless person I’ve ever known
Her heart is enormous and I am constantly in such awe by her deep devotion and willingness to help others in any way she knows how.
Whenever I (and everyone she knows) is in need of absolutely anything, my mom will drop everything and run off to offer her assistance.
When my sister and I need anything, she’s there. When my dad needs any kind of help, she’s on it. When her friends depend on her for something, she’d never think of letting them down.
It’s simply not in her nature to be selfish – even though at times, she could learn to say no, but I know that she would never want to.
For her, helping others comes naturally no matter how much of an inconvenience it may impose. And the best thing?
She doesn’t expect anything in return.
That’s perhaps my favorite thing about her. She’s a true hero when it comes to everyone in her life and she wouldn’t have it any other way.
She’s always been my number one role model, but only recently have I realized the impact her selflessness has had on my life.

5. Her love runs deep
When she loves, it’s with everything she’s got. My mom hasn’t had the easiest life. I know that to be a fact, and yet, her love is the safest haven I’ve ever known.
Perhaps it’s because she knows what it’s like to not be loved the way you deserve to be loved. Whatever the reason, being around her is like being in the warmest company ever.
She’s appreciative, kind, humble, and treats everyone with such devotion and consideration. She tells me ”I love you” on a daily basis, so much that I feel bad for not saying it first sometimes.
She’d never show it, but I know that sometimes she needs a little extra love too. I make sure I give it to her because that’s the least I can do for my real-life superhero.
The deepest bond I have is with my mother. Even when we’re on the outs, I know she’d protect me against anything.
And if that’s not pure, selfless love, nothing is.
6. She has taught me so much
If I didn’t have my mom to steer me in the right direction, I honestly don’t know where I’d be right now.
She has taught me more than she will ever know. Through her actions and words, I’ve become the woman I am today. And I finally realized that I never stopped learning from her.
Even now, I constantly find myself learning new things from her.
From the smallest things to the big life lessons, she has taught me everything.
Thanks to her, I know the importance of humility and honesty. I know that kindness is a priceless virtue and forgiveness is admirable.
Thanks to her I know that when someone treats me crappy, it has nothing to do with me, and everything to do with their own insecurities.
I used to engage every time I was provoked, but now I know better.
She has taught me that not everyone deserves my time. So now instead of fighting back, I just turn my back and move on with my life.
I know who truly loves me and who never did. And all that thanks to incredible advice she keeps giving me through life. In my world, every day is Mother’s Day, because a mom’s job is never finished.
A mom never gets to clock out. She is on call 24/7. And not because she has to be, but because she wants to be.
And that is the biggest proof ever that mothers are the most incredible beings ever. What could ever compare to their everlasting, unending devotion to their children?

7. Her laughter is my favorite sound
Hearing my mother laugh makes me so happy that I could scream. Knowing she’s happy is my happiness too.
She is the most hardworking woman ever. She doesn’t know when to stop. So when she takes a bit of time to decompress, relax, and enjoy some much-deserved free time, nothing makes me happier.
I hope that one day I could mean as much to my kids as she does to me.
I never could understand the importance of a mom until I reached a certain age. If you told me 15 years ago that hearing my mom laugh would be my happy place, I’d call you crazy.
Not that I didn’t love her back then – I did! It’s just that back then, my priorities were different. But as you grow older, you learn to see value in the simplest things.
You need to go through certain phases of life that ultimately show you how much you were shaped by this incredible woman. Without her, your life wouldn’t be half as good as it now.
So today, whenever I catch a glimpse of her gorgeous, genuine smile, it makes my day.
8. She pushes me to keep following my dreams
What I love most about her is her constant confidence that I’ll do the right thing. Even when I doubt my own abilities. Even when I’m on the verge of giving up. She’s always there to catch me when I fall.
I’ve had days, weeks, even months when I felt directionless, not knowing where my life was going. It was as if I was wandering aimlessly, unsure of where I was going to end up.
And when I’d feel most fragile and most vulnerable, she’d be my voice of reason. She is the one who’s kept assuring me not to ever let my mind bury me.
That I’m strong, capable, and full of possibilities. She never lets me be so harsh with myself. She’s always seen potential when I don’t and if not for her, I wouldn’t be doing what I’m doing today.
Giving up was so easy. But not in her world. She doesn’t know of such a word. And thankfully, neither do I.
Today, I am doing what I always wanted to be doing. I just never imagined I’d get there. But she knew. She always knew.
How are moms so insightful? How are their hearts so selfless and full of wisdom and tenderness?
I honestly don’t know, but thanks to my momma, I got where I am, and I’ll never stop being grateful for her guidance.

9. She gives me the harsh truth when I need to hear it
I really appreciate people who are able to give you the honest truth no matter how uncomfortable it might be. Those are the people you need in life.
And my momma is the epitome of a truth-telling goddess. She knows how to give it to me straight, with no sugar-coating.
She’ll never stroke my ego by telling me sweet lies she thinks I want to hear. Where would that ever get me?
Absolutely nowhere. That’s why I count on her to tell me what not many would dare.
If I start seeing a shady guy, she’ll call me on it. My friends hint vaguely because they don’t want me to feel bad, but my mom will rip him a new one as if it was nothing!
I appreciate it because I tend to fall blindly and not see people’s faults when I fall in love. God knows where I’d be if she didn’t open my eyes when I needed it the most.
And not just boyfriend-wise. It’s about every part of my life. Whichever decision I make, I run it by her first. Because I know that’s the only way to know if I’m on the right track.
Telling the truth is sometimes the hardest thing ever, but even when it hurts, I can count on her to lay it on me. At that moment it feels a bit much, but in the end, it always saves me from me.
10. She loves me when I’m unlovable
I know we all have days when we feel so low. Even the most positive person in the world has their crappy days. And I consider myself to be extremely positive and upbeat.
But only she knows how much I struggle internally.
People think they know you, but there is always that one part you hide from the world. There is always a small fraction you feel uncomfortable sharing with anyone. Right?
And no matter how hard I try to hide it, there is no hiding anything from her. She knows my moods better than anyone. She recognizes when I’m struggling, no matter the broadness of my smile.
She notices when I’m down even when I’m putting on my brave face. I still don’t know how I feel about that, as the last thing I want is burdening my momma with my worries.
But I guess it’s her job to know. And when she does, she makes sure to show me love even at my most unlovable.
When I’m pushing her away, she’s closer to me than ever. When I’m hiding my sorrow, she encourages me to let it all out. When I hate myself, she loves me twice as much.
When I feel impossibly hard to be loved, she proves me wrong. I don’t know where she gathers the strength and will to be as lovable as she is, but it’s something else!
And my eternal hope is to one day be as strong, smart, resourceful, and incredibly patient as she is!
