Whenever I’m texting or dating a new guy, I have to immediately share it with my best friend. Whenever I’m feeling off, the first person I call is my best friend.
Our conversations range from an existential crisis to just-a-random-convo at 2 a.m. because none of the two of us can fall asleep.
Our best friends are not just random people that we choose to spend time with because they’re fun to be around. They are so much more than that!
They are our confidante, a family member, a relationship counselor, and our favorite person (when they’re not annoying us) all in one.
Without them, we wouldn’t know how strong we actually are and capable of doing the weirdest things at the most inappropriate times like laughing your ass off when you’re supposed to act professional.
Our best friends understand us. They know our weaknesses and preferences, and they certainly know how to challenge us to become better versions of ourselves.
Sometimes, we want to kill them (when they embarrass us in front of others), but we can’t because we love them too much.
Our best friends will always be the most special people in our life, and that’s why they deserve to know how much they mean to us!
“Things are never quite as scary when you’ve got a best friend.” – Bill Watterson
The world in which we live is a scary place. We are surrounded by 7.6 billion people. From my personal experience, half of them are either catfish on social media or legit creeps (maybe I’m overexaggerating, but you get the idea).
What I’m trying to say is: Do you know how hard it is to find a best friend or at least find friends who genuinely care about you?
It’s really hard, if not mission impossible, but I found mine and I’m truly grateful for that. With a best friend, things are never quite as scary and the world seems like a happier place.
When you find that one person who completely understands you, cares about you, and always tells you the truth no matter how painful it is, you know you won.
Finding someone special like that may take ages, but when you meet your true best friend (if you haven’t already), you will never feel alone in this big world ever again.
If you’re feeling anxious before an exam, your best friend will know what to do. They will make you laugh so hard until you forget that you actually have an exam.
When you’re on a bad date, freedom is one call away because your best friend will do anything for you (even if it means lying to others).
When you’re in a self-pity mode, they won’t join you. Instead, they will tell you exactly what you need to hear even if it is the last thing you would want to hear.
Because that’s what friends do for each other, and they know you would do the same thing for them.
“Friends are those rare people who ask how we are and then wait to hear the answer.” – Ed Cunningham
In the world full of selfishness and pursuit of fake ideals, true friends are those rare people who actually care about how you feel. They don’t ask you things for the sake of asking them.
When a best friend asks you how you are, you don’t even have to tell them anything because they already know from your facial expressions and your vibe.
Still, they will wait to hear the answer because they want you to confirm what they already know.
Best friends have this telepathic superpower, and there’s no way you could ever fake anything in front of them, which is what makes them so amazing.
You can’t pretend that you like that one random person when they know you despise them. Lucky you because you don’t need to act polite in front of your friend for them to like you.
You can be who you are even when you think you shouldn’t.
You can make a fool out of yourself without feeling embarrassed at all.
You can ask them the stupidest questions in the world and they will be amazed by the level of your confidence and creativity.
Best friends are the people who bring out the best in us
They don’t judge you. They don’t make you feel uncomfortable about being who you are in front of them. They inspire you and motivate you to achieve your goals.
They believe in you even when everyone else fails in doing so. No matter how many times you argue with them, you always know that in the end, everything will be alright because that’s what best friends do!
When they’re not having the time of their lives, they fight, they contradict each other, and sometimes, they say things they don’t mean. Still, this doesn’t mean that they no longer care about each other.
Best friends are special people, and a relationship with them is anything but ordinary. That is why they deserve to be praised.
Our best friends’ efforts deserve to be acknowledged, and here’s one of the things you should say to your best friend right now:
You are my person and you will always be my person.
Let your best friend know that you’re like one. When they’re feeling down, you’re feeling the same way. When they’re happy, you’re even happier.
Let them know that you have enjoyed everything you’ve gone through with them from the saddest moments to the most cheerful ones. Your best friend deserves to know that they will always be your person no matter what.
Even if the whole world starts plotting against them, let them know that you will still be the one on their side holding their hand. Your best friend deserves to know how special they are to you and how much this friendship means to you.
Treat your best friend like the love of your life
The majority of people are so excited about the idea of meeting their soulmate, and once they do, they often forget about their best friend. Or, they choose to keep their friends only as a source of entertainment for fun nights out.
Well, true friends should never be treated only as a source of entertainment or kept on hold because you’ve got more important things to do at the moment.
Romantic relationships come and go, but true friends stay for life!
I have a confession to make. When I was in my previous relationship, I started neglecting my best friends because I wanted to spend the majority of my time with my boyfriend.
I was selfish, rude, and disappointed in myself for that. When I broke up with my boyfriend, I promised myself that I would never make the same mistake again. And, I didn’t.
Almost every single one of my good friends lives in another city, but we still manage to stay in contact and see each other from time to time.
I no longer prioritize romantic relationships over friendships, but I treat my best friends like they are the love of my life.
Recently, I wrote an open letter to my best friend where I expressed my gratitude for our friendship and all those special moments we have spent together.
Instead of sending a letter via email, I chose to do it the old-fashioned way and send it via post office in real life. When my friend read the letter, she immediately called me and couldn’t find the words to express how touched she was.
At some point, she started crying because she got too emotional.
It was one of the most beautiful moments in my life that I haven’t experienced with any of my previous romantic partners.
So, treat your best friends like the love of your life because they are so much more than that. Make them feel special, spoil them, surprise them, make DIY gifts for them, do something funny that will brighten their day.
Treat them like the most special people in the world because that’s what they are to you.
Without them, you wouldn’t know how it feels to be mad and laugh your ass off at the same time. If it weren’t for them, no one would ever give you the perfect gift for your birthday because they are the only people who know the real you.
So, it’s time to let them know all that. If you’re not that good at writing letters, you can always surprise your best friend with one of these emotional best friend paragraphs:
With you by my side, the world is a better place.
The sun shines a little bit brighter, my smile grows a little bit wider, and in that moment, my problems are no more.
You are the most beautiful person inside and out. You’re selfless, compassionate, and wise beyond your years.
I truly believe I hit friendship gold when you skipped into my life and filled my days with laughter, happy tears, and enchantment.
