Using The Power Of Words Wisely Will Change Your Life

Using The Power Of Words Wisely Will Change Your Life

We are what we say. Or are we?

How much attention do we pay to choosing the right words – the ones that will bring happiness, confidence, and peace to everyone around us, including ourselves?

Using the power of words in an intelligent, considerate way is truly a life-changing experience.

The important questions to ask yourself are:

– How do the words I use reflect my personality?

– Could I choose better words to show the people around me who I am?

– How do I feel when people choose to use negative words toward me?

– How often do I spread negativity with my choice of words?

– What can I do to create a more positive environment for both myself and other people?

One thing is certain, words are powerful tools we use recklessly in our everyday lives.

Thinking more carefully about why and how we use the words we use can have an incredibly positive impact on the world. Let’s start.

Spoken words are the reflection of your thoughts…

What you say is what you think. Words reflect what we want to say, but the way we use them can also reflect what we’re avoiding saying or confessing (that’s why we use idioms, euphemisms etc.).

The thoughts you have are an important representation of your character. Therefore, whatever you say is also a representation of who you are as a person.

We are what we think and we are what we speak.

Interestingly enough the reverse premise is also true. What we choose to say, in time, affects who we are.

Sometimes we don’t give enough credit and importance to the words we use, ignoring what a powerful force they are, which, in time, results in changing us as people (for the worse).

We pay little attention to what we say and how we say it and it creates a negative energy that spreads from us to our environment and, sure enough, comes right back at us.

Our word choice has an incredible impact on our everyday lives. It creates a certain atmosphere through which we perceive the world around us.

Ask yourself this: How much thought do I put into my choice of words?

Being a part of a family or a certain community can cause us to speak in a way that might be affecting our lives in a negative way. Words matter.

Our choice of words is important for our well-being, but also for the well-being of the people around us.

They greatly affect the people you use them on…

Everything about the way we choose to express ourselves, from our body language to the words we choose to say, has real power on other people’s feelings and lives.

Sometimes we say something without thinking about it and even though we forget about it the second it has left our mouth―that little something, that poor choice of words becomes traumatizing for the person we said it to.

They carry it with them for a lifetime, constantly wondering whether it was true.

Now, I’m not saying you should avoid telling the truth but that you should choose to tell the truth in a loving way, rather than a hurtful one.

Negative words can destroy someone’s day, year, or even their whole life. So, doesn’t it seem like we should pay more attention to what we say?

If everyone thought of the power of words in this way, there would be so many more confident people living their lives to the fullest, unburdened by other people’s harsh judgment.

Sadly, plenty of those times when we hurt someone with words are not even the purest reflection of our thoughts, rather something we said without thinking or words we used randomly while gossiping or chatting.

Everyone has been hurt by someone else’s words at least once. You know what I’m talking about.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could all pay more attention to choosing better words – more positive words – that would truly make an amazing impact on the world we live in?

All the positivity you give to the world creates a better environment for yourself to live in too.

When you have something to say and it comes off as negative, you can try thinking about the more positive and uplifting words you could have used to make your point.

For example, if you’re thinking that someone is a complete failure, you could reorganize your thoughts and actually say: ”Currently there are some negatives in your life, but you are in the process of rearranging it, moving forward and becoming successful.”

…but, they also affect you…

The very same goes for you.

Not only do the words you use affect others but, even more importantly, the words you use on yourself have an incredible impact on your life.

What you choose to say about yourself, to yourself and to others matters.

Saying: I am lazy; I am fat; I am stupid; I am ugly; I am unworthy; I am unimportant etc. lowers your confidence, making you feel like whenever something wrong and bad happens to you it’s your fault.

Undermining yourself with negative words creates a negative image of yourself in your mind, and probably in the minds of others.

Being negative and critical about your own appearance, abilities, and life in general, takes you to a place from where you no longer see a bright future.

You should always concentrate on the positive traits and the positive side of things.

If you think you’re overweight say to yourself: “I may currently be overweight but I’m working on becoming slimmer every day and I congratulate myself for all the effort I’m putting in.”

You have to appreciate yourself and show it with the words you choose when thinking about yourself.

The best words to use on yourself are words of encouragement. Those words, when spoken to yourself are called affirmations.

Some of the shortest, simplest affirmations you can use are:

– I love myself.

– I love the world around me.

– I cherish the people in my life.

– I am growing into my fullest self.

– I love my decisions.

– I am becoming clear about what I want and what I don’t want.

– I love focusing on what I love.

– I inhale who I am. I exhale who I am not.

Be creative. Write a list of affirmations you can see to make yourself feel more valuable, important, and happy every single day of your life.

Use these affirmations in the morning, evening, or whenever you’re feeling like you could use some positivity and encouragement.

Tell yourself that you’re beautiful, smart, a good friend, an amazing person, successful, happy… Use the brightest, most flattering words you can when talking and thinking about yourself.

If you make this a habit your life will most certainly change. You’ll gain confidence, you will treat others in a more positive, accepting way and others will be keener to accept you for who you are.

Keep in mind that…

The energy and emotion you have when speaking is as important as the words you use. It’s important to always tell the truth, but the way you say it makes all the difference.

When you are generally loving and when everything you say comes out of your honest care and kindness, it sounds and feels completely different.

Stop speaking from your fears and insecurities and start speaking from your heart.

Think about why you are saying the things you’re saying. Will your words benefit you or the person you’re speaking to in any way.

If you notice that your words are hurtful or unnecessary, don’t say them.

Something that’s said can be a turning point in the life of the person it’s been said to. We all have the power to change the lives of people around us, but also to change our own life.

You have to decide to speak from a place of love. When I say love, I mean the love you feel for yourself, for other people, for the whole world and for life.

The words you say become a huge part of your life and of the world, so choose them wisely.
