1. Start writing a new chapter of your life.
Breath. Get out of bead. Take a pen and paper (click notes on your phone) and think about what you want to do next.
Your chapter can start with something as simple as taking a long bubble bath or going out to take coffee till you gradually evolve to something that will be completely life-changing.
Every little choice we make, every move that we make in order to better ourselves and make ourselves happy will launch us to something new and great.
There is some magic in new beginnings, in starting fresh with a new viewpoint on life. Be grateful for the opportunity to rebuild your life the way you want to.
2. Confide in someone you can trust.
There is no better therapy than to talk with your friends. Just make sure that you confide in someone you trust completely, someone you can tell your deeper, darkest secrets. Someone you would do the same for. Your person.
There is a certain sense of relief when you tell something aloud. It diminishes the power pain has over you.
It’s better to get everything off your chest and avoid those dark feelings suffocating you. It’s never a good idea to hide your feelings. So, speak until it hurts a bit less.
3. Exercise.
The best way to get the pain out of your system is to sweat it out. Nothing like a good run or a few hours at the gym to clear your head and relieve stress.
Even if you are not so much into exercising, you can do something simple like walking your dog, hiking…anything that gets you out of bed and preferably in the fresh air.
Afterwards, you will feel like a completely new person.
4. Focus on the here and now—don’t let the past rule your life.
If you are holding on to the past, to all of those could’ve and should’ve been situations, you are not living the right way.
You are stuck somewhere in the past and you don’t realize that life is happening right at this moment and you are missing out on it.
It’s not easy to control your mind. But you will realize that replaying scenarios in your head over and over again is really pointless and it’s doing you more harm than you think.
Try to think about the moment you are in and the day that is ahead of you. You will regain your life more quickly if you concentrate on the here and now. Don’t let the past rule your life.
5. Cry it out.
We are all so scared of crying. It seems like it’s the worst thing to do. But, crying can be so purifying.
Every tear that falls down your face when you are trying hard to get back on your feet gives you a bit of strength. Tears give you clarity.
Tears are proof that all that pain you are feeling found its way out. Once you get tired of crying, you are already moving forward.
Dried tears are proof that you are stronger than you give yourself credit for.
6. Walk out on things that aren’t working for you.
Whether it’s your job, people or situations that are draining you and dragging you to the bottom, you have the right to walk away.
You only get to live this life once, so make the best of it. Don’t let toxicity and bad situations get the best of you.
You are in control. You can choose what you allow in your life and what you let go off. It takes guts. You have to be brave and smart about the choices you make.
Just make sure you are satisfied with the life you are living. You create your own destiny.
7. Take better care of yourself.
When we are feeling down, we forget that we need to take care of our health, both emotionally and physically.
So, don’t forget to eat properly, get some fresh air and rest. Make taking care of yourself a priority. You are your most important investment.
8. Make a small style change.
It’s almost a cliché that women often change their hairstyle or color. But there is a reason for that. Subconsciously, by making small modifications in our appearance, we are welcoming change into our lives.
Change in style, renewing your closet, changing your hair or makeup style is an instant way to make us feel better about ourselves.
On a deeper level, it’s a way of inviting change into our lives.
9. Disconnect from your everyday life for a while.
The best thing to do is take a break for a weekend or longer. Go out of town, on a road trip or to some nature resort.
Travel. Discover new places. Meet new people. It will do you good to change your everyday environment.
It would be preferable to go somewhere where there’s no cell reception. So you dedicate time to your peace of mind, forget about people for a while and stay away from those who caused you pain. Out of sight, out of mind.
10. Build up and strengthen relationships with people close to your heart.
When everything is falling apart in your life, you will see the people who are standing right by your side. They are your rocks.
Value them. Show them you care and that you appreciate them helping you get back up when you forget how to stand on your own. Spend more time with them.
The warmth that your loved ones are providing you with is something irreplaceable—the best cure for anything.
11. Try something you’ve never done before.
Get out of your comfort zone. Do the things that scare you.
Overcoming your fears will do wonders for your self-esteem. You will get to the point where you will think to yourself, ‘If I managed to do this I can do anything.‘
12. Learn something new.
Learn a new language. Get familiar with the cultures that speak that language and their customs.
It will remind you that there is an entirely different world out there and that you still have a lot to see and discover.
If not language, find something that will keep your hands and mind busy. You will be growing mentally.
You’ll feel better about yourself because you are doing something that you are into and that can also be beneficial for your future.
13. Go easy on yourself. Trust the process.
Changes don’t happen overnight. Don’t expect wonders.
Take it step by step and see how you are gradually improving, changing your mindset and your life. Be more focused on the process of getting there than on the actual goal.
14. Celebrate your victories no matter how small they are.
Remember to validate yourself. After a month or two, look back and see how far you’ve gotten. Be proud of every small victory. Life is about movement.
When you finally reach your goal and find the peace, you will want to move some more because by making those small steps you realized you are ready to take some bigger ones too.
Be proud of yourself for every little hill you climb—it will move you to climb mountains.
15. Forgive.
Resentment is just holding you hostage. So, forgive people that hurt you. It will make you think less and less about them. Forgive them even though they shouldn’t be forgiven.
It will give you the freedom you need in your life. Forgive yourself for everything you are blaming yourself for right now. When you forgive, you heal. When you let go, you grow.
