A Letter To My Future Husband

A Letter To My Future Husband

Dear future husband,

You know that we have been dating for a long time, and it is time to settle down. I just want to thank you for choosing me to be your wife. Thank you for all these years of love and support. You know how I changed during all these years, and I just want to tell you that I will probably change again.

It is just a phase in my life, and I can’t skip it. I must try new things to learn life lessons. I need to make mistakes in order to become mature. I need all this, so please let me do it. Let me make mistakes because I won’t learn anything from yours. Let me be independent because that is something I need. I need my job, my friends, and most of all, I need my freedom.

If you think this is too much for you, please leave now. Don’t wait for us to get married and have kids to leave me. I won’t judge you for anything—if you can’t stand something, that is a sign that we weren’t meant to be together.

Here are some things I am craving for, so listen to me carefully.

First of all, I want love! I want an extreme, supernatural type of love that nobody around us has. I want to be the most loved woman of all, and I want to show off with you—my perfect husband, my soulmate, my lover!

After love, I want some respect. I want you to help me with everything. I want us to be equals. I want you to support me at home and at work just like I will support you. I want you to wash dishes because I already cooked a meal. You should know that I wasn’t born to be a housewife who will clean after her husband nonstop. I was born to make my own life, not depending on anyone, especially you. And I want you to understand that.

When we build love and respect, we can have kids. I expect you to pamper me during my pregnancy. I want you to know that I will change, and my hormones will sometimes make a monster out of me.

But I want you to know, it wasn’t my purpose to do that. Our baby is growing inside me, and all those are symptoms of pregnancy. I want you to be pregnant with me. I want you to hold my head every time I am sick, and when I start to vomit. I want you to massage my back and legs because they hurt.

And most of all, I want you to be with me during my labor. To tell me that everything will be okay. To remind me what a strong woman I am. I want you to be the one who will give me our baby after I deliver it. I want you to feel my pain and my happiness. I want you to be united with me.

When I go back to work, I expect you to take care of our child, getting up at night and calming him so I can get some extra sleep. I want you to know that my body won’t be the same after giving birth, and I want you to be okay with that. I just need you to know why I am doing all this.

I want you to know that I am trying to make a good life for the two of us, a happy one. With a house with a backyard, kids, a dog, and the sunniest balcony where we will drink warm coffee on Sunday mornings. I am doing all this because I love you, and I hope you feel the same for me.

In this letter, I have my heart on my sleeve, telling you all that is important. So, please after you read this, tell me if you can handle all of it. Tell me if you can handle me, with all my imperfections and my insanity. If your answer is “YES”, then welcome to my life and bear in mind that you will never get rid of me once you put a ring on it.

I am sure that together we will make an amazing life story!

Love you to the moon and back,

Your future wife!
