Dear broken-hearted girl,
I know how you feel. I’m familiar with the torture of never-ending cycles of pain and crying myself to sleep.
I was once like you, and I want to tell you: It will go away. It seems unlikely now, but it will.
Breakups sometimes feel like they’re the end of the world and, in a way, they are. The world you patiently built with another person has just crumbled down like it never existed.
You are hurt beyond words and nothing makes sense anymore. It feels like part of you is missing; you’re either in great pain or totally numb.
You’re experiencing the darkest time of your life and you can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel. But it’s there.
Before you’re able to move on, first you need to heal. Your trust has been broken, you have been emotionally hurt and used, you’re not sure who you are anymore.
You need to heal and healing takes time.
It’s important for you to not be hard on yourself. You need to let yourself feel what you need to feel: grief, anger, sadness… It’s all part of the healing process.
Don’t hold in emotions, because that’s going to have the opposite effect. A lot of our suppressed emotions come back to us in even uglier ways.
If you need to cry curled up in your bed – do it. If you need to punch something to release anger – do it. Just don’t suppress.
Talk with your friends. It’s easy to spiral down into isolation and depression, that’s why you need support and comfort from your friends. Trust me, they will be happy to help you. Don’t be afraid to ask for help.
Be gentle with yourself. Don’t blame yourself for anything. You can’t control things that are not meant to be, no matter what your overthinking brain says.
The only thing you can control is how you respond to the situation. It’s hard to be fully rational, but it’s possible.
Maybe you feel like you lost a battle and will never get up. That’s not true. It’s just a temporary feeling.
You didn’t lose. In fact, the reality is you’re still alive and you will get up. It will make you stronger.
People don’t get stronger by thinking happy thoughts, they get stronger through the pain. The process is hard, but the result is always worth it.
You will break free from pain and the only thing that will be left is an even more confident and ready-for-life you.
Don’t underestimate yourself, ever. You are capable of everything you put your mind to. You will feel it every time you decide to push forward, even a little bit, in any difficult situation you face.
Your heart is whole, it just feels broken now. It has cracks, but it hasn’t collapsed.
Trust me, you won’t remain single forever or be scared to love. Nothing is meant to last forever and nothing is doomed.
Happiness is always found in the most unexpected ways. Don’t stop giving yourself the chance to find your own.
After this mess, you will know yourself better than ever.
Knowing yourself will make you more aware and intuitive – when the right man comes your way, you will recognize him.
But before that, know that you will heal yourself. You don’t need anyone else to heal you.
Your power lies within you. You will be confident again. You will smile again. That I promise you.
You will get what you deserve because you’re enough as you are. Everyone has a different life story and everyone needs to go through hardships to find their own light.
Don’t give up. Don’t let sadness overwhelm you. Choose to fight. Choose yourself.
Let your own light lead you and you will move on.
