Dear Mom,
This letter is just a reminder of how much I love you and how much I am grateful to have you in my life. If it wasn’t for you, I would never have become the person I am today.
That’s why I just want to say: “Thank you!”
Thank you for being there for me when I needed you the most, thank you for listening to my problems, for being my late-night phone call, for giving me advice and always standing next to me. I know that there are no words that can show how much I am grateful to have you here but I hope that once you read this letter, you will realize that you did an awesome job alone.
I know you put your life on standby just to focus on me and that the only free time you had between two jobs and taking me to school was the time when you would go to the bathroom and cry because it was so damn hard to go through all that alone. And I also know that you never wanted me to know about your problems so you hid them. But even when I was little I could feel the lack of peace and I knew that you suffered and that you fought your own battles every day.
I also know that you never actually wanted to yell at me but it was so hard to take care of me and have tons of obligations and still be relaxed. Now I understand that your whole world was falling apart while I was just a small girl screaming to get that toy from the store that you couldn’t buy for me.
Now, I understand why we ordered food so many times. It is because you didn’t have time to cook because you had two jobs so you could provide me with everything I needed. And it wasn’t important to me if you cooked something or not, it was important that we were together.
I know it was hard for you to go on this trip alone but now that I am an adult you can see that you did a great job. You raised a daughter with a clean and pure heart just like you have and the one who will always stand up for herself. Your advice and love will always be a part of me, so Mom, don’t ever think that you weren’t enough.
You are enough!
You are worthy!
You are important!
You don’t have to try anymore because you already gave me all that I ever needed. Of course, I sometimes missed Dad but your love and affection always made me feel that I had more love than those kids with both parents living with them.
You are enough, which means that you gave me all that a grown person needs to be pleased and happy and for that I will never be able to thank you enough.
You are more than enough because you have always been a good listener, an honest friend, a good companion and my human diary. I could tell you anything that bothered me and with just one sentence and a hug, all my nightmares would fade away. You were always my rock, Mom, and you will always be.
So please don’t think that you failed because the situation with my dad didn’t happen as you planned. Don’t think that you are not enough because you ended a love relationship and stayed with me only. You chose right. If there isn’t love, there is nothing else to do there. So walking away was the perfect decision and I am so proud of you and your strength to do that. Just remember that your imperfections and your problems don’t reflect your worth. Don’t think that you are weak because you walked away because that doesn’t make you weak at all. That just means that you were too strong for too long.
I know that you had a crazy and challenging phase in your life and I know that it wasn’t easy for you to handle all the problems alone. But in the end, you made it and that’s why you are more than enough.
You were enough, you are enough and you will never stop being enough. I know that you felt that way every time I reached my hands to you to raise me up. I know that you felt like you were enough every time I would look at you with my big eyes, showing you that you were all that I needed and that there was no more perfect a woman than you.
You were always the perfect one for me and you always will be.
Mom, I want you to know that you are more than enough.
And I am begging you, don’t you ever forget that!
With love,
Your daughter.
