Life is a true miracle in itself that consists of multiple layers and aspects. Some aspects of life are more important than others but one thing is certain; balancing each of them is a recipe for true happiness!
Now, imagine that you have everything you ever wanted except for one thing and that is your health (be it your mental health or physical health).
You live in a nice, big house, you drive a nice car while going to your awesome job, you have friends and family who love you and an amazing partner.
However, you don’t have one aspect of your life that is closely connected to all the others and that is good health and well-being.
If you don’t have that, every other aspect of life becomes insignificant and suffers because of your low performance.
This is why some aspects are simply more important than others or are interconnected with other aspects.
When you look at the bigger picture, every single aspect has the power to boost your personal development to some degree and that is why balancing them is crucial!
Here is a list of the most important aspects of life that deserve to be paid special attention to:
1. Health
As already said in the introductory part, health is one thing that is beyond everything else.
When you’re healthy, your performance, choices and wishes are unlimited but when you’re in poor health, every other single aspect starts suffering because of your inability to perform or low performance.
You know what they say: “A healthy person has a thousand wishes, a sick person only one.” This couldn’t be more true than it is.
When you’re in good health, you have the ability to still work, hang out with your loved ones, nourish your friendships, relax and do whatever you want but when you’re sick, you can only do one thing and that is contemplate doing all the aforementioned things.
That is why it is important to nourish both your mental health and physical health.
A simple walk during the day can do wonders for your body and mind. Regular exercise, meditation and staying away from any type of toxicity should all be priorities.
Also, eating healthy food (preferably organic) and being creative both contribute to making you feel good and protecting your body and mind from potential diseases.
When I started practicing a holistic lifestyle, I instantly boosted my quality of life which also contributed to improving other aspects of my life as well.
Now I feel like I’m doing something good for myself and my loved ones, which is the ultimate sign of self-care and self-discipline.
So, take care of your body and take care of your mind because in the long run, this is the best investment.

2. Your family life
When we’re still children and living with our parents, our family members are our support and providers of a safe haven. They help us with many tasks and challenges in our daily life and they are always there for us.
Once we grow up and start living alone or with a partner, our family is still an important aspect of our life.
When it comes time to having a spouse or children of our own, the family aspect is still present, just in a new, additional form.
No matter whether you’re still living with your parents or if you have a family of your own, your family life will always be a source of unconditional support and love.
After all, they are the people who raised you and with whom you have spent and still spend a great amount of time.
Whenever something bad happens, you know you can tell them everything and cry your heart out on their shoulders. And that is why you should nourish your family life with special care.
Spend as much time with your family members as possible, don’t put them on hold when they need you and make them feel special.
I always say that one of the most expensive things you could give someone is your TIME.
You could buy plenty of expensive gifts in an attempt to show your love and admiration but this would not have the same effect as spending time with them would.
We, as human beings, like to think that we have all the time in the world for everything and then we are surprised when something bad happens to our loved ones and then we wish we had spent more time with them instead of only showering them with gifts from time to time.
Always remind yourself of that at the end of the day and you’ll avoid potential regrets in the future.
3. Career/Work
We all spend a great amount of time at our work and with our colleagues (unless you work from home like me and mainly spend time with them virtually).
All in all, this aspect of life is also one of the most important because it provides us with financial security and it helps us achieve personal goals.
This one aspect is connected with the previous ones because without some occupation, your health might start suffering due to being nervous and feeling like you don’t have a purpose.
And this might reflect on your family life, social life and your love life as well.
Remember all those movie scenes where someone loses a job and the whole family crumbles (especially if that person was the main provider)?
Without financial stability, we feel afraid of what will happen tomorrow.
Perhaps our partner or someone in our family will get sick and we won’t be able to cover the expenses or we will lose our home or similar.
When we enter that phase, we lose ourself and both our mental health and physical health start suffering.
We become overly anxious and depressed and our personal growth enters a phase of stagnation.
Living a fulfilling life is impossible without having good health and the everlasting support of our friends and family but it is also impossible without work as well.

4. Household
Your home is where you spend a lot of time when you’re not working.
Your home life includes your family members, different chores and other things that need to be done in order for everyone to function properly on a daily basis.
Preparing food, washing dishes, laundry, taking care of your children, paying bills, chill time and so on are all components that belong to your home life.
If one component is not met, the whole sequence can get disrupted. For example, let’s say that you and your partner both have jobs and you both have your own responsibilities regarding chores.
If you forget or leave the dishes to your significant other, they will not be able to do their own tasks because they will be overloaded.
This might create tension and confusion which can affect your children as well (if you have them) and your performance at work or similar.
If you’re married or living together, both partners should make an equal effort when it comes to maintaining an organized household.
When I was living with my previous partner, we divided chores so that both of us had an equal share of the household responsibilities.
Somehow, my partner would always forget to accomplish the majority of his tasks because he was totally unorganized.
In the beginning, I didn’t have a problem with it because I would help him but over time, this greatly affected our relationship and how things functioned in general.
When one person is making more effort and giving more than the other, disbalance is inevitable, which can lead to the end of a used-to-be-great relationship.
5. Friendship
Friendships are really special because they differ from the relationships you have with your family members or colleagues.
You can’t choose who will be your family member or with whom you’ll spend time at work but you can choose whom you’ll call a best friend or a close friend.
Our close friends are usually a combination of a family member and a friend in one.
We have best friends who are always there for us no matter what and with whom we have a history of adventures and tons of great times.
They have seen us cry, laugh and in any other possible condition. They know all our triggers, preferences and habits and they never judge us.
They have been completely honest and genuine from the first time you met them till today, which is one of the most valuable traits nowadays.
Then we have close friends with whom we occasionally go for a walk, to a concert, drink coffee, talk about random things and share mutual interests.
We also have old friends with whom we are no longer in contact because we outgrew them, because they’re living in a different city or so on.
However, what connects them all is that they all leave a mark on our personality and enrich us as human beings.
Friendships are like real-life flowers. If you don’t water them, they will not be able to flourish and that’s why it’s important to always let them know how much they mean to you.
6. Spirituality
Every single one of us has a different idea of spirituality. Some connect it with religion, peace of mind, meditation, purpose, the meaning of life and so on.
Whatever it is for you, one thing is certain; spirituality plays an important role in our life.
I like to see spirituality as an invisible force or energy that lives inside us. The way we feed that energy can shape or alter it and send different messages to the universe.
If we practice meditation on a daily basis, our body and mind will enter a state of bliss and inner balance. This will make us ooze with positivity and such energy will attract more positive things into our life.
I like to think a lot about the meaning of life and similar mind-boggling ‘questions’ and I’ve noticed that the more I think about it, the more I feel in tune with my higher self.
Spirituality is a powerful force that can shape our beliefs, boost our mood and change the way we see things or used to see them.
Being spiritual means being open to improvement and absorbing different, enriching perspectives.
It is deeply rooted in our DNA and it has the power to affect all aspects of life, like family, work, friendships and especially health.
Our mental health is in close connection with spirituality because if your spirit is ‘sick’, this can reflect on both the mental and physical aspects.
I recently read somewhere that cancer is not a physical disease but a disease of the spirit. Perhaps it is true but I’ll leave this one for you to decide for yourself.

7. Leisure time
Leisure time also belongs to a section of one the most important aspects of life. Given that leisure time encompasses activities that we do in our spare time, it involves things that we do for fun and enjoyment.
Those activities boost our endorphins and basically make us truly happy.
Now, imagine that we were devoid of leisure time and that we were only doing the things we HAVE TO do and not those that we WANT TO do.
We would feel totally miserable, right? Dancing, reading an inspiring book, singing, hanging out with your friends and family, drawing, cooking, etc., are things that bring color to our life.
Our hobbies, passions and activities that we enjoy doing are what make us feel inspired and they boost our positive energy which then spreads to other aspects as well.
Whenever I draw or sing (or do something else that I’m really passionate about), I notice that I’m more productive at work, in conversations with my friends, etc.
Doing something just because you want to do it gives you a sense of fulfillment and purpose.
It also boosts your creativity, self-love and self-discovery, which you can implement in everything you do outside of your leisure time.
8. Personal growth and development
The only constant thing in life is change. From the moment we’re born, we celebrate thousands of small and big milestones.
Different events, situations and challenges shape us and change us. It could be education, your personal spiritual journey, working on your bad habits or similar.
In a nutshell, personal growth and development is about becoming the best version of yourself. It is not about having a perfect job, spouse, car or similar as it is presented by social media.
It is about doing the best you can each day. Personal growth is about making an effort to improve every aspect of your life.
It is about striving to be a better person, to be more mature, to help others and to make the world a better place. Our every word and action can greatly affect our development.
Personal growth is omnipresent and constant and it is not something that can be achieved overnight.
We cannot wake up in the morning and realize that because of something we did, we have finally finished our journey called personal development.
The truth is that you’ll make plenty of mistakes and also do plenty of amazing things and they are all part of your journey called life. They all make you who you are and connect you with your true self.

9. Community
Even though we all came into the world alone, we were not meant to be alone. We’re all part of a community, be it big or small.
These communities can be your neighbors, your college crew or a certain organization and they give you a sense of belonging and teamwork.
I remember when my village was flooded and we all worked together to build stronger dams with sandbags.
Teenagers, fathers, mothers and older people all united together and helped each other and my uncle delivered food to people by boat.
Even though what affected us was really scary, you could still feel this sense of community and compassion in the air.
I finally realized what it means to be all for one and one for all.
Animals, people, neighbors and strangers all had one goal and that was to protect and save everything and anyone that could be saved. And we managed it.
After some time, the water receded and we were able to continue living our regular lives. And that’s the real beauty of community!
Knowing that you’re not alone and that with joint efforts you can together achieve anything you want is one of the most powerful and uplifting feelings of all.
10. Finance
If you ask me, this is one of the trickiest aspects out there. Money is something you can’t live without but it is also something that shouldn’t be your top priority.
It’s really easy to become greedy when it comes to the financial aspect because the media is constantly reminding us that we need more things, new things and expensive things.
So, you become determined to work hard to buy that one expensive car or outfit in order to feel like you’ve accomplished something really important.
We tend to forget that we can buy anything with money, except for happiness.
In this aspect, it is important to find a middle ground between two extremes; too much money and a lack of money.
My father has always said that he has enough money for his own needs.
He never contemplated big things like living in a luxurious house, owning several expensive cars, etc.
He is satisfied with what he has earned from his hard work and he invests smartly and with care.
The bottom line is that you should never let money become your top priority.
By doing that, you will neglect all other aspects that are equally important for your happiness and well-being. As always, balance is the key!
So, this is the ultimate list of the most important aspects of life that you should always keep in mind.
It is true that during some periods in life, you will probably pay more attention to one or two aspects rather than every single one of them equally.
However, you should always strive to create a balance between them because that’s the recipe for true happiness and contentment.
With that in mind, I wish you the best of luck!
