Once your relationship gets past the ‘honeymoon phase’, it is inevitable that the passion and sexual tension that were there in the beginning will slowly start to fade away. There are no rules as to when this happens but monotony and boredom will likely appear at one point or another.
For some, it doesn’t happen for a year (lucky them!) but sometimes it takes place within a few months. If you don’t do something about this, you risk slowly distancing yourself from one another and ending up like complete strangers.
Luckily, there are many ways how you can reignite the fire that was once there and remember all the things that made you go crazy about each other in the first place!
Here are some ways to spice up your relationship and re-establish your romantic connection:
1. Kiss
Kissing is one of the most intimate and romantic things you can engage in together without taking your clothes off. This is a sure way to renew the connection you know is already there!
Kiss often and a lot, you don’t need a reason, and it will surely make you both happier and more content with each other.
2. Love notes
Leave each other little love notes in the most unexpected places but make sure your partner can easily find them.
Leave him a romantic note in his coat, it will brighten up his day once he sees it! Or leave a sexy note on the bathroom mirror as he is taking a shower! He will get out of that shower a happier man.
3. Go away together
Sometimes it is crucial to disappear from the place where you spend all of your time, and go somewhere new, without anyone you know there, just you and him.
This will help you remind each other how much you ENJOY spending time together and reconnect! Without any distractions, other people or your phones. Just a couple refueling their love for each other.
If you have kids, try to leave them at their grandparents’ and take at least two days to dedicate solely to each other!
Try to find something or someplace you will both equally enjoy but at the end of the day, you will probably spend the majority of your time under the sheets, which is the whole point. Go for it!
4. No electronic devices
Pretend there was a power outage. You can’t watch TV, no music, don’t even think about your phones, it’s just you and your partner.
This is a great opportunity to catch up on what’s new in each other’s life, talk about your relationship openly and honestly, with no judgment, or play a board game!
Either way, it is a great way to connect and spend QUALITY time with each other.
5. Cook together
You know what they say—the quickest way to a man’s heart is through his stomach!
While there is obviously more to it than that, making food together can be a fun bonding experience between you two. And afterward you both get to enjoy a delicious meal you just made together!
6. Date night
Make sure you go on at least one date a week. Decide on a place and then arrive separately and act as if you have just started going out together. Ask him about his childhood, his likes and dislikes, and pretend as though you are only starting to get to know each other!
Slowly, you will be in a deep conversation about your most intimate things and you will remember why you fell for each other in the first place!
7. Find time for each other
We’re often so busy and spend our evening doing chores or finishing up work stuff that we forget to find time for our significant other and ask a simple, “How are you?” or, “How was your day?”
Make sure to find at least 20 minutes every day to have a conversation and see how each other’s day was.
8. Have fun
Try to find something fun and new for both of you to do together! Be that a hobby, a new place to go to or a simple walk through a park with a coffee and a good conversation.
Having fun is an important aspect of a relationship so make sure to forget about work and important stuff for a night and just let loose and enjoy each other!
9. I love you
Those three words often get lost in a relationship, as you both just assume that the other one knows it, so you don’t have the need to say it that much. But that is exactly why you should!
Remind your partner and tell him unexpectedly that you love him, that just might be what he needs to hear that day! It is always nice to hear those words and it can also improve your mood significantly.
