The ultimate result of the dating Hell everyone goes through is finding your forever person. So, don’t tell me you don’t believe in soulmates because I know that’s crap.
Perhaps you don’t call what you’re looking for a soulmate, but finding the person to spend the rest of your life with and finding a soulmate is essentially the same thing.
Great, now that we’ve cleared that up, let me move on.
After so many fails, after so many dates which you want to forget as soon as possible, there comes a time when you think you’ve hit the Jackpot.
He shows up. He takes you somewhere nice. You laugh. You tell each other jokes. You completely get each other. It’s a fairytale come true.
Soon, you find yourself thinking about him and missing him when he’s gone. He sends you good morning texts, and the vibration on your phone makes you wish you’ll see his name on the screen.
Soon, you’re completely hooked.
But something is bothering you nevertheless. Is it too soon to think he’s your soulmate, your person, or whatever you want to call it?
There is no definite way to prove that the person you have strong feelings for is your soulmate. But if your gut is telling you something, I say risk it, and listen to that feeling.
If you don’t want to listen to your relationship sixth sense, there are other ways to decide whether he is your soulmate or your relationship will be over pretty soon.
1. Soulmate: He supports you no matter what
Soulmates don’t question your decisions. They support you even if they think you’re doing the wrong thing. Of course, they won’t let you do it without telling you what they think.
But, if it means that much to you, they will let you do it anyway.
The difference is a soulmate is going to be there when everything falls apart. He will support you in your intention and comfort you when you fail.
A soulmate will never walk out on you.
2. You’re done: You’re not up high on his list of priorities.
He has something more important to attend to. He always chooses to go out with his friends instead of you.
When you need him he is nowhere to be found, and in the end, he shows up with a ton of excuses.
This is not the person you want to spend the rest of your life with. This is an emotionally immature boy who hasn’t quite figured out yet what love and relationships are really about.
Things can stay like this for some time, but doom is written all over your relationship, so better end it now before it gets worse.
3. Soulmate: You have routines you do on weekends
Spending your days off with the person you love is the most beautiful thing a couple can do. Having a weekend routine also shows that your relationship is going places, and it’s serious.
Think about it. The person you love is sacrificing his free time to spend it with you.
He doesn’t care about other things. He wants to be by your side doing something you do every Saturday morning or Sunday night.
You go for walks, on a picnic or you snuggle watching a movie. It’s not important what you do it’s important that you do it together.
4. You’re done: He chooses his friends over you
It’s not wrong for him not to spend every single weekend with you. You can’t expect him to ignore the fact he had a social life before you came along.
It would be so wrong of you to expect him to spend every single minute of his free time with you.
Taking that into account, if he does the opposite and never spends his free time with you, then something is not right.
A man in love would never pass up an opportunity to be with the woman he loves. If he chooses his friends every single time, then, I’m sad to say, you two are over.
5. Soulmate: He respects your opinion
He will always find time to shut up for a second and listen to you. Not because he needs to but because he wants to.
This man you fell for and consider to be your soulmate thinks you’re intelligent, confident, and pretty much awesome. He even thinks he could learn things from you, so he listens to you.
Not only he listens because he could learn something new, he also listens because he genuinely cares about you and wants to get as much information about you as he can.
He wants to know everything about you because he wants to give you the world. He needs to make sure you never need anything else but him.
6. You’re done: You don’t feel comfortable around him
Something just doesn’t feel right. You keep telling yourself that everything is okay, and you so badly want to convince yourself that it’s going to be fine, but that gut feeling just won’t leave you alone.
When everyone’s gone, when you are left alone with your own thoughts, one question bugs the hell out of you: What if he is not the man for me?
When you’re around him, you carefully choose your words because sometimes your words are misheard and misunderstood.
The point is, you can’t be your true self around him. Well, if this is the situation, that is one big NO-NO for your relationship.
7. Soulmate: He loves your family
You love his family, too. You both feel like you belong with them. There are no awkward silences, no uncomfortable situations when you’re with them.
When you first invited him to spend Christmas with your family, he was thrilled, and of course, he had no reason to be anything else.
Your dad and he clicked instantly. He teased your mom in a cute way…
Altogether, he loves them because he loves you. He respects them because he respects you.
8. You’re done: He thinks your family has ganged up on him
He doesn’t want to go near your family at all. I’m not saying he should move in, but it would be nice and polite of him to visit them with you every now and then.
He doesn’t need to love them, but he needs to show some respect.
Instead, he avoids them, and he thinks they are the ones that exclude him. He feel threatened and unwelcomed for some reason.
I’m not saying that this can’t happen, but if he treats you with respect and loves you, there is no reason why your family shouldn’t love him.
9. Soulmates: You travel together
Like all couples who are meant to be with each other, who don’t mind spending every moment of their free time together, you love to travel together.
You love to explore new things and make new experiences, new memories.
More importantly, he enjoys being adventurous with you. You are more interesting than anyone else. He can go with his friends, but that won’t be the same – hence you’re soulmates.
10. You’re done: He prefers going solo
Opposite to traveling together, he chooses to go with the guys. Again, I’m not saying that’s a bad thing, but if this continues and in the end, he is traveling with them more than with you, you definitely have a problem.
Or even worse, he is going on his own. In the beginning of a relationship when you’re still getting to know each other, traveling on your own is not a surprise.
But as the relationship evolves and nothing changes, it means that the two of you are not going to have a future. You might as well end it now.
